Sunday's NFC West bout between the Seahawks and Cardinals does not jump off the page as a must-watch, but the matchup may prove to be one of the more entertaining games of the day. Out of all the games on the Sunday NFL slate, this one has the second-highest projected points total at 50.5. The reason for that is as follows: both teams have shown some semblance of competency on offense, while neither defense has demonstrated an ability to consistently get stops.
This is undoubtedly a game that many are overlooking due to the mediocre state of both teams. That being said, I think there is one particular prop bet that holds a significant amount of value. It features a running back who is poised to step into the lead role following the season-ending injury sustained by Rashaad Penny. Let's dive in.
Seahawks vs. Cardinals Prediction
Kenneth Walker III Over 60.5 Rushing Yards (-115) (Bet $115 to win $100)
Kenneth Walker III was viewed as a superb running back prospect out of college. Many scouts viewed him as a better pure rusher than Breece Hall, who was touted as a more "complete" all-around RB prospect. The Seahawks agreed with the consensus evaluation of Walker, selecting him with the 41st overall pick in this year's NFL draft.
This upcoming game against the Cardinals will be Walker's first opportunity to showcase his talents in a lead NFL role. Rashaad Penny, the Seahawks starting running back for the first five weeks, suffered a season-ending injury last week, paving the way for Walker to start. Since Walker has not started thus far, there is no easy way to project his exact usage. What we do know, though, is that the Seahawks like to run the ball more than most teams. This should bode well for Walker, who excelled as a traditional rusher in college.
It is worth noting that the Cardinals' run defense has performed decently to start the year. They have allowed some sizable rushing performances, but they have also limited the likes of Christian McCaffrey on the ground. However, from a personnel standpoint, Arizona's defense is bad. As far as I can tell, a talented running back such as Walker should not have too much trouble producing against this unit. With minimal competition remaining in the Seattle backfield, he has the potential to lock down high-volume usage out of the gate. That, combined with his college efficiency, makes me think this number is too low.
