Denver Broncos vs. New York Jets Player Prediction
This AFC match-up projects to be a low-scoring affair. The point total line is currently set at 38 points, which is the lowest on the Week 7 slate. Expect a lot of production from Jets' rookie running back Breece Hall and a flurry of activity from Melvin Gordon, Mike Boone, and Latavius Murray. Russell Wilson's a game-time decision due to a hamstring injury suffered against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 6, while Denver's offense has only managed to score over 20 points one time this season.
Both teams have elite young defensive backs, further adding to the low-point total. Sauce Gardner was a top-five draft pick by the Jets in the 2022 draft class, while Pat Surtain II has been just as good for the Broncos in his second season in the league. D.J. Reed was signed by the Jets to bolster their secondary this offseason, while Broncos' safety Justin Simmons recently returned to give Surtain additional help on the back end.
New York's second-year quarterback Zach Wilson has not been asked to do a whole lot following his return from a preseason knee injury, but he recorded two touchdowns against Pittsburgh and a rushing touchdown in a 40-17 rout of the Miami Dolphins in Week 5. His season is trending upward, while Wilson's has been trending downward due to bad quarterback play, confidence that is no longer warranted, and head coach Nathaniel Hackett, who appears to be in over his head with game management.
The Jets are only one-point underdogs on the road at Empower Mile High Stadium this weekend, which is indicative of Denver's inability to score points. It's likely going to be a defensive slugfest, which means touchdowns will be hard to come by.
Let's look at some of my favorite player prop bets in a matchup that could see the Jets rattle off their fourth consecutive win.
Denver Broncos vs. New York Jets Player Prop Picks
Zach Wilson Under 0.5 Pass Touchdowns (+165)
Wilson has not been tasked with more than 21 pass attempts since his first game back against Pittsburgh in Week 4, when he completed 18-of-36 attempts for 252 yards and a touchdown. Since that happened, Wilson has only accounted for one total touchdown during wins against Miami and Green Bay, utilizing his legs to score as a ball carrier near the goal line. Denver has the league's fifth-ranked pass defense, so don't expect any passing touchdowns to resurface in Week 7 for Wilson. You're getting great value on no passing touchdowns for Wilson at +165, so this is a no-brainer player prop to hammer, especially due to the Jets' success running the ball with Breece Hall.
Breece Hall Over 71.5 Rushing Yards (-120)
Speaking of Breece Hall, he's valued at -120 to finish with at least 72 rushing yards. Denver's better against the pass than rushing attacks, ranking 13th in terms of run defense. Hall has handled 17 carries or more in each of his last three games, turning two of those into outings well above 72 rushing yards. Pittsburgh's run defense limited Hall to 17 carries for 66 rushing yards, but he ripped off 97 against Miami and 116 against Green Bay. Denver allowed Las Vegas and Indianapolis to collectively rush for over 100 yards, so taking Hall to continue his surge at -120 is a safe bet in a game script that will cater to his usage.
Corey Davis Over 31.5 Receiving Yards (-115)
None of New York's passing options are elite, but we saw Garret Wilson pop with Joe Flacco during a miraculous double-digit fourth-quarter comeback against Cleveland in Week 2. Veteran wideout and former first-round draft pick Corey Davis continues to be one of Zach Wilson's most trusted targets in the Jets' passing attack. Granted, New York will try to control time of possession with Breece Hall leading the way, but Wilson will still need to attempt at least 20 passes. Davis has hit over 32 receiving yards in three consecutive games, which coincides with Wilson's return under center. At -115, hammer Davis to reach 32 receiving yards despite playing against Denver's talented secondary.
Denver Broncos vs. New York Jets Player Prop Picks
- Zach Wilson - Pass Touchdowns Under 0.5 (+165) (Bet $100 to win $265)
- Breece Hall - Rushing Yards Over 71.5 (-120) (Bet $120 to win $220)
- Corey Davis - Receiving Yards Over 31.5 (-115) (Bet $115 to win $215)
