Texans vs. Titans Prediction

Houston has one of the best ATS records in the league at 3-2-1 but they have been trending down since earning their first win against Jacksonville in Week 5. After their Bye Week, the Texans looked flat against the Raiders, particularly the defense. They allowed Josh Jacobs to run right through the heart of the defensive unit, which resulted in 21 points surrendered in the fourth quarter. Davis Mills is a strong second-year quarterback exceeding expectations but the lack of surrounding talent on the offense, excluding rookie running back Dameon Pierce, doesn't leave Mills with a lot of reliable options.

Tennessee has rattled off four consecutive wins since starting 0-2. A massive piece of it has been the resurgence of Derrick Henry, who has handled over 20 carries in four consecutive games, resulting in three 100-yard rushing performances. Henry is also catching a few targets, which is essentially most of the Titans' offense due to mediocre receiving personnel.

This AFC South matchup will be over quickly since the rushing attack is the strength of both offenses. Henry and Pierce should create plenty of fireworks, but the Texans' run defense is much worse than the Titans, which has allowed only one rushing touchdown through six games. Houston has surrendered eight rushing touchdowns and opposing ball carriers are averaging 5.2 YPC, which is not ideal going up against Henry.

Let's explore a few of my favorite anytime touchdown scorer prop bets in the first of two AFC South matchups between the Houston Texans vs. Tennessee Titans.

Texans vs. Titans Best Anytime TD Scorer Picks

Derrick Henry (-140) (Bet $100 to collect $162) Get the best odds, available at DraftKings

I've already made the case for Derrick Henry, who has the best running back matchup on the Week 8 slate against Houston's 32nd-ranked run defense. He possesses the highest odds to be an anytime touchdown scorer in this AFC South tilt at -163, which isn't great value, but it's still enticing enough to hammer in such a good matchup. Historically, Henry has been dominant against Houston, scoring four touchdowns, including two a piece, against the Texans back in 2020. He's the heart and soul of the Titans' offense and he is a lock to find the end zone after being held out for the first time in four games against the Colts in Week 7.

Brandin Cooks (+210) (Bet $100 to collect $310) Get the best odds, available at FanDuel

It's been a relatively quiet year for Brandin Cooks in a run-centric Houston offense but he's still capable of hitting an anytime touchdown score against Tennessee's 31st-ranked pass defense. The veteran wideout has four career touchdowns against the Titans, who have arguably the worst secondary since Cooks has been a member of the Texans. Cooks' only touchdown this season came on an 18-yard reception in the fourth quarter against the Chargers while they were playing catch-up. If the Texans get inside the red zone, watch out for Cooks, as he could slide behind coverage while the focus is on Dameon Pierce in the backfield. At +162, it's a good value, especially considering the plus-matchup.

Dontrell Hilliard (+650) (Bet $100 to collect $750) Get the best odds, available at FanDuel

Diving deeper into this ATD scorer slate, Dontrell Hilliard becomes a name with relevancy. Tennessee is a run-centric offense but when Derrick Henry needs a rest, or the Titans find themselves in third-down situations, the fifth-year veteran out of Tulane takes on a critical pass-catching role. Hilliard has seen his targets dwindle occasionally this year, but he has a nose for the end zone, converting goal-line touches for three touchdowns in two games for the Titans this season. All three have been receiving touchdowns, which is where Hilliard thrives, so against the Titans' bottom-ranked pass defense, Hilliard is worth a flier to find the end zone for the fourth time this season as a receiver at +220.
