Eagles vs. Packers Prediction
Leg One: Packers +6.5 @ -110
Coming from a Vikings fan, it should not be taken lightly that I expect the Packers to keep this game close or even win outright tonight. I hate the Packers and love to watch them lose, but this seems like a game they stick around and make life difficult for the Eagles.
When Green Bay has lost badly this season, it's against teams that can shut down Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon. The Eagles, while an explosive offense and decent defense, are ranked 26th in rushing DVOA. It may not seem like teams light the Eagles up on the ground this season, but that's because teams are often in a negative game script and stick to the passing game. Underlying metrics expose Philly as a below-average rushing defense. This season, the Packers run offense has been their main mover and is ranked as the fifth-best rushing offense by DVOA.

It's also important to note that while the records look very different in this game, the Eagles have had one of the easiest schedules in the NFL, while the Packers have had a much tougher resume. The Eagles rank 31st in strength-of-schedule, while the Packers rank 4th in strength-of-schedule. The Packers have been having a disastrous season, but their receiving core is getting healthier, and Aaron Jones can eat up the clock and keep this game closer than most may expect. I don't know if the Packers can win outright, but they should keep this a one-score game.

Leg Three: Aaron Jones Anytime Touchdown @ +135
As previously stated, if the Packers are going to keep this game close or win, Aaron Jones has to be a significant factor in this game. Especially with Rodgers' nagging thumb injury, the Packers will look to the ground game early and often tonight. This plays directly into Philadelphia's defense, who funnel the run.
The Eagles have one of the best secondaries in the league, with Darius Slay and James Bradberry. However, they have struggled up front. The Colts ran for 98 yards last week, and Washington had 130 against them the week before that. Dameon Pierce of the Texans ran for 139 yards the game before that. The Washington game really was a big one, because it showed the blueprint to beating the Eagles, and it's the same thing the Packers can do - run Aaron Jones. Jones is averaging 5.4 yards per carry and has also been good as a receiving back. Although he was held in check last week with a nagging injury against the Titans, he had 138 yards the week prior against an excellent Cowboys defense. When Jones is relied on and gets a good chunk of carries, it seems like he breaks 100 yards almost every time. He has yet to stay under 100 rushing yards when he has 15 carries this season. I think Jones will have a big night tonight and also find the end zone.
