We're at the luxurious Caesars Sportsbook for this one since they've got the banger price. I'm sure we can get something similar at the other shops but this is specifically aimed at Caesars. Usually, I don't like writing about Caesars because I always spell "Caesars" wrong. I always think the "e" should go before the "a" and it doesn't. I don't even eat Caesar salads because of that. I'm a man of principle. Still, I think I may be over all that now and I'm ready to put all the spelling stuff behind me. Truly heroic stuff.
We're getting a real treat here because the best teams in the NFC happen to be playing in the NFC Championship Game. That doesn't always happen so when it does, we should recognize the feat. It's a big deal. On top of that, we've actually got a team from my List of Teams that CAN Win the Super Bowl this season playing in this game so that's another fun feature. The San Francisco 49ers have been on the list for weeks now so it will be nice to see if they can get past the Philadelphia Eagles who have not been on the list all season.
This one is all about AJ Brown and DeVonta Smith. If the Eagles have any chance at going to the Super Bowl, these two will have to be involved. The thing is, I think this is a game where both could go for 100+ receiving yards. Think about it, on the season, they combined for 50+% of the target share. They've actually both gone 100+ in the same game three times this season. We're not talking about something they haven't done before and it's not like they can just line up and run all over the 49ers like they did to the New York Giants last week.
Why won't they run on San Francisco? Because no team in the NFL gave up fewer rushing yards to their opponents this season than the 49ers. We're talking 3.4 yards per attempt here. The last time the Eagles played a team with a run defense this good (Titans), both Brown and Smith went 100+. The haters are going to say that the Titans' pass defense was horrible but only five teams in the NFL gave up more receiving yards to wide receivers this season than San Francisco. The Titans were one of them. If we're being honest (we are), I'm pretty sure the Eagles will be able to move the ball Sunday and both of these guys could go 80+ by halftime. Feels right.
