The Bengals and Chiefs present one of the more interesting matchups of the week. I’ve seen incredibly smart people on both sides of this game, and your opinion will probably come down to how much you think this ankle injury affects Mahomes. I personally think that it’s harder to imagine Mahomes will look better than he did in the second half of last week, considering all of the adrenaline he had to keep him going. On the other side of the ball, Joe Burrow and the Bengals looked great last week taking care of business, beating the Bills 27-10.
The Bengals still have a very consenting offensive-line situation, but interestingly enough, it’s not being talked about much. They survived last week but I think the weather played a large role in that, with defensive linemen struggling to get pressure on Burrow in the snow.
The Chiefs' defense has been underrated this season, and I expect the Bengals to get the ball out quickly. One of the main guys that will benefit will be Chase, who is known for his vertical abilities but also has been extremely involved in the screen game this year. Chase has six-plus catches in 10/13 games this season, with two of those misses coming at five catches. One of those was last week, where he had eight targets in their blowout win. I’m expecting a closer result. In his two previous games vs Kansas City, he’s gone 7-98 and 11-266, I think he continues to put up monster performances today.
My pair with Chase's six receptions was initially Toney 20+ receiving yards, but with Hardman back and the lack of guaranteed snaps, I think this is safer. I will still be sprinkling 50+ yards at +250 with the big play upside. Whether Mahomes is healthy or not, I expect an absolute brawl between these teams. The Bengals not only proved they could take care of a high-powered offense last week, but they also proved they could grind out an ugly win against the Ravens. They’ve had success at Arrowhead, and with Mahomes being slightly slowed down, I don’t see them losing by more than seven points here.
- Noah Gray +950 ATD (Bet $100 to collect $1050) Get the best odds, available at Pointsbet
You guys know I couldn’t let you out of here without a nice little long shot as well. With Travis Kelce dealing with some back problems on and off, there is always a possibility he goes out of this game a bit early.
The Chiefs have generated the most touchdowns and yards per catch in two-tight end formations all season long, and Travis Kelce commends so much attention in the red zone. We know Andy Reid loves to get creative in the red zone, and with Mahomes injured, we could see some even wonkier formations. This is currently +950 on Pointsbet, +800 on Fanduel, and down in the +400's everyone else, already some line value.
