Eagles vs. Chiefs Super Bowl 2023 Prediction, Pick, Odds: Can Patrick Mahomes, Chiefs Cash as an Underdog?
Look, I know the Chiefs are banged up. I don’t care. Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid with an extra week of rest as an underdog should be an automatic bet. We can talk about the injuries, or how sharp Jalen Hurts has been this season, but at the end of the day, it comes down to coaching and a quarterback. Kansas City has an edge in both. Reid addressed the concerns about generational talent Patrick Mahomes’ ankle injury and said the extra week off has helped. Don’t expect Mahomes to be limited in any way. He’s been playing through injuries like this his entire career, especially in college. This is nothing new for him.

Eagles vs. Chiefs Super Bowl 2023 Prediction
Speaking of nothing new, this will be Mahomes’ third trip to the Super Bowl. The big game jitters shouldn’t be an issue for the star quarterback. Jalen Hurts, on the other hand, I would be worried about. Although much improved this season, Hurts one pitfall is his accuracy. He makes up for it with his big play potential and by using his legs. We can assume Coach Sirianni isn’t going to try to win this game through the air, as Philly carries the best rushing attack in the league.
But what happens if this nasty Chiefs defensive line shuts down Miles Sanders and the rest of the Philadelphia backfield? If Andy Reid is as smart of a coach as we all think he is, he’s going to try and make his opponent uncomfortable by focusing on taking away their biggest strength, the rushing attack. Chris Jones has been playing out of his mind recently, expect him to lead the charge in shutting down Philly’s explosive rushing attack.
It’s worth mentioning that Andy Reid, debatably the best play caller in NFL history, will be facing his old team who fired him years ago. If you give Coach Reid an extra week to prepare, along with some added motivation, I don’t see anyone getting in his way as he approaches another Super Bowl. At this point in the season, we already know the two teams who made it to Glendale are insanely good, that’s why they’re here! Maybe the revenge narrative is what the Chiefs need to push them over the edge.
The Eagles carry the highest-rated pass defense this season, thanks to guys like Darius Slay and CJ Gardner-Johnson. Here’s the issue; this defense hasn’t faced a quarterback or offense like the Chiefs all season. Yes, they defeated the Packers at home in one of the best games of the season, but you take that game away and they’ve pretty much steamrolled through a bunch of average offenses and quarterbacks. They lost to Taylor Heinicke at home, I am not impressed. Don’t get me wrong, as a fantasy football owner I am a huge fan of Jalen Hurts. If I was a fan of the team going to the Super Bowl, I’d be a little nervous about the accuracy of the young star if the Chiefs' defense comes out hot.
The craziest part about this Chiefs run to the Super Bowl, is that they’re winning with their defense. They’ve held the Jaguars and Bengals, two of the hottest teams in the NFL, to only 20 points. L’Jarius Sneed was cleared from concussion protocol, huge news for the red-hot Chiefs’ defense. If they play like they have the last two weeks, this one won't be close. Now pair that with Travis Kelce’s postseason resurgence, debatably the best young quarterback we’ve ever seen, and one of the best coaches in NFL history with a revenge narrative. Do you want to bet against that? I sure as hell don’t.
