Super Bowl 57 Picks: Buying Low on Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Chiefs
The Super Bowl is always bittersweet for me. It's almost always an awesome game featuring the NFL's two best teams. And, that certainly feels like the case for this Sunday.
However, it's the last time we'll watch a meaningful NFL game for the next seven months! So, it's only right that we take advantage of the biggest sporting event of 2023 with a same-game parlay. Let's jump in!

Super Bowl Same Game Parlay
Leg 1: Marquez Valdes-Scantling 20+ Receiving Yards
On DraftKings, we can get MVS' receiving down to the 20+ mark, which is my favorite way to play the Kansas City wide receiver this Sunday. This option is also available on BetMGM's One-Game Parlay feature. And, you can grab this same two-leg parlay on FanDuel, but you have to take MVS at 25+ receiving yards instead.
Anyway, Valdes-Scantling has been a nice addition for the Chiefs in his first season playing alongside Patrick Mahomes. He posted 687 receiving yards in the 2022 regular season while seeing a career-high 81 targets in Andy Reid's offense. Plus, he turned in his best performance as a member of the Chiefs last week in the team's AFC Championship victory over the Cincinnati Bengals.
The former Green Bay wideout caught six of his eight targets last week, finishing with a season-high 116 yards. That marked his 13th game with at least 20 receiving yards this year, including the postseason. MVS is entering the big game as the healthiest Chiefs wideout and played 72% of the team's offensive snaps last week. He's notched 20+ yards in seven of his last nine games and should remain involved again in the final game of the year. Plus, he can cash this for us in just one play.
Leg 2: Kansas City Chiefs +8.5
Patrick Mahomes is arguably the most talented football player we've ever seen. And, there's one thing I love about him from a betting perspective: this guy doesn't lose by two scores.
He's played 93 career games, including both the regular season and the postseason. He has an unbelievable total record of 74-19 in his career (10-3 in the playoffs). But, let's take a closer look at these losses.
Mahomes' 19 career losses have come by an average of just 6.9 points. And, only three of them have come by more than 8 points. So, to be clear, in Patrick Mahomes' 93 career games, the Chiefs have covered this line of +8.5 in 90 of these contests.
Number 15's ankle will be 100% healthy - or very close to it - after two full weeks of rest, and I feel confident in the Chiefs to keep this one close, at the minimum.
