Tiger Woods and Peyton Manning are sizeable favorites over Phil Michelson and Tom Brady in The Match, but who should you be backing?

Two of the best golfers of all time return to the national stage Sunday at 3 p.m. ET, as Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson face off at Medalist Golf Club in Hobe Sound, Florida. It’ll be match-play format, similar to their first primetime meeting in 2018’s version of The Match, but this time they’ll have Super Bowl-winning QBs playing by their sides.

Peyton Manning, the former Indianapolis Colt and Denver Bronco, will be teaming up with Tiger to take on Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady and Mickelson.

The Match is being played for charity, with $10 million being donated to coronavirus relief funds, but we can expect side wagers and loads of trash talk from all four. Tiger and Manning are pretty heavy favorites at -190, but which side should you be backing?

BEST BET: (2u) Woods/Manning to win at -190

Woods/Manning vs. Mickelson/Brady

The value isn’t great for the favorites and there are a lot of unknowns about just how each golfer will play, but there’s too big of a gap between Tiger and Phil for me to consider taking the underdogs.

Tiger is the 11th ranked golfer in the world and defending Masters Champion, while Mickelson holds the 61st spot on the World Golf Rankings. On top of that, Woods is a member at Medalist Golf Club, giving him as much of a home-field advantage as you’ll see in the golf world.

Mickelson defeated Woods at Shadow Creek Golf Club in Las Vegas when the two met in 2018, but that was almost two years ago and will likely have little impact on Sunday’s outcome.

As far as the quarterbacks are concerned, most seem to believe that Manning is also the better golfer of the two. There are reports that Manning has a handicap index of 6 while Brady’s is an 8.

I want to be able to bet Mickelson/Brady for the +175 odds, but Tiger and Manning look like the better golfers and should come out on top. Brady is the better quarterback of the two, but on the golf course it looks like Manning may have him beat.
