2021 British Open Daily Fantasy Picks & Predictions: Play Brooks Koepka at the Top
2021 British Open Daily Fantasy Picks & Predictions
It’s been almost 2 full years since we’ve witnessed the familiar imagery that is a Sunday afternoon of Open Championship Golf. The classic blue and gold grandstands, the players draped head to toe in rain gear, and the shine of the Claret Jug. The purest form of golf makes its long-awaited return this week at Royal St. Georges in Kent, England and I can not wait!
A familiar stop on the R&A circuit, Royal St. Georges may not appear daunting at roughly 7,200 yards but once you factor in that there are only 2 par 5’s and likely 30 mph winds, it will surely provide a suitable test. The last two times The Open was held here, there were only 5 total scores under par in the two events combined! Let’s dive right into my favorite DFS Plays in each range this week.

$10,000 Range: Brooks Koepka - $10,700
Major Championship week. Don’t overthink it. Forged by his success coming up through the European Challenge Tour, he’s hardly overwhelmed by links golf. Combine that with the fact that he’s been the best player in the world competing in Major Championships over the last 5 years by a substantial margin. The form is right there to pair with the confidence for this stalwart.
$9,000 Range: Jordan Spieth - $9,700
It’s early in the week but it appears that Jordan is going to be very popular. It’s not without reason though, he has a fantastic track record at The Open Championship, and he arrives in England carrying his best form in quite a while. The setup this week should reward his creativity and shot-making prowess, particularly around the greens. The magic with the putter will always be in his back pocket, but the swing changes that were years in the making are starting to pay major dividends for Jordan as well. He’ll be a staple on my rosters, regardless of ownership.
$8,000 Range: Paul Casey - $8,600
Casey has really whittled down his schedule this year which has seemingly dialed in his focus when he puts a tee in the ground. He has only made 6 starts since mid-March, but that includes 4th, 7th, and 26th place finishes at the 3 other Majors. Casey hasn’t lost strokes on Approach since October of 2020. The Open has long been known a “Veteran’s Major” and this will be his 18th crack at it. His winning upside is debatable, but his price point here presents value in the midrange.
$7,000 Range: Harris English - $7,300
We’ve seen the full spectrum of form for Harris in 2021 bookended by wins at the TOC in January and most recently at the Travelers two weeks ago. We are definitely on the way back to the top as 3 consecutive top 15’s which includes the win and a 3rd at the US Open. English is currently the 12th ranked player in the world (OWGR) and he’s the 44th player down the list in Draftkings pricing. I also think he makes a solid pivot of $7,400 Berger who will garner a large portion of the ownership in this range.
$6,000 Range: Kevin Kisner - $6,900
Back to back top 30’s at The Open including a T2 at Carnoustie. I think the always self-aware Kisner has come to realize that this Major presents his best chance given his strengths which include hitting the fairways and leaning on the putter. The current form box is also checked coming into this week off of an 8th place at the Rocket Mortgage Classic and 5th at the Travelers Championship.
Good luck this week friends and enjoy The Open!
