Bermuda Championship Daily Fantasy Picks and Predictions: Big Week Coming From Patrick Reed

Welcome to the PGA Tour Island Swing! We’ve touched down on the coast of Bermuda at Port Royal Golf Course with what can be described as an…interesting field. Alternates are in abundance and you will find a bunch of names the most may not recognize, but this type of event provides a great opportunity to isolate some players looking for a break-through performance in a tournament that almost anybody can win.

We’ve seen it the past 2 years as Brendon Todd and Brian Gay came out of nowhere to cash in the Fedex Cup Points, Masters invite, and we’re able to add a trophy to the mantle. We’re expecting high winds off the coast which of course makes this even less predictable. That said, this is one of the shortest courses we will see all year. I think if you are going to dive into stats like Approach play and Ballstriking, we must consider that Port Royal is only a bit over 6,800 yards. Most of these guys could probably compete this week with 8-9 clubs in the bag!

Finding the fairway is of the utmost importance and will present you with short wedges into several holes. There are six par 4’s that are playing under 400 yards which essentially makes them a pitch and putt for these guys on Tour. I generated a stat model this week that put a heavy emphasis on Ballstriking and Approach play on courses sub-7,200 yards. I also factored in SG: Putting on Bermuda Grass, Approach proximity from 75-150 yards, and SG: Total in windy conditions. Without further ado, here are my favorite DFS picks in each price range for the Bermuda Championship.

Bermuda Championship odds

Bermuda Championship Daily Fantasy Picks

10k+ Range: Patrick Reed @ $10,400

There are certain players who have been known outliers when you run stat models. Reed is one of those guys. He can go from showing abysmal form and quickly flip the switch into winning like few others. The value you are getting in this terrible field on a 9-time PGA Tour winner and Masters Champion is too much to pass on for me. I love his ability to be a “shot-maker” in the wind and make putts when it matters.

9k Range: Danny Willett @ $9,300

Much like Reed, Willett contains that special ingredient that is so important to have…winning upside. He’s proven to have won the most prestigious event on both American and European soil. He has a knack for shot-making in difficult conditions and recently has shown a return to form with the victory at the Dunhill. Willett has a strong track record at Florida courses and the Corales which feature the native Bermuda grass green surfaces. Let’s roll out the winners!

8k Range: Scott Stallings @ $8,600

A quick glance a Big Poppa Pump and you wouldn’t think that Port Royal is a great fit for him. That said, he has managed to log back to back top 25s here and has gained +12 SG on the field over the last 2 years at the Bermuda. I believe that highlights his approach to “clubbing down” on many occasions and understanding the importance of playing from the fairway at all costs. He ranks top 10 in SG: Approach on course setups under 7,200 yards and top 5 in the field in approach proximity from 75-100 yards.

Bermuda Championship odds

7k Range: Austin Eckroat @ $7,500

This Eckroat kid has a ton of talent and needs to cash in on an opportunity like the one this week to get himself into some more fields next year. His last two starts include a 37th and 16th place finishes where he was able to gain 5+ strokes on approach in both outings. It seems like while many elected to pass on the trip to Bermuda, Eckroat has had this week circled for quite a while and should have intentions on a top 10!

6k Range: Adam Svensson @ $6,900

I’m often a bit tepid in the 6k range, but I LOVE Svensson this week! I really believe he can win this thing! He won at the Nationwide to close down the Korn Ferry Tour season less than two months ago and if you filter Ballstriking and Approach play on shorter courses, he really stands out. 1st in the field in Ballstriking and 3rd in Approach over the last 24 rounds. He hits a ton of fairways and if he finds himself near the top on Sunday afternoon, I really believe he can close the deal!

Good luck friends, go cash!
