World Wide Technology Championship at Mayakoba Daily Fantasy Picks and Predictions: Shopping in the Clearance Isle for Billy Horschel

The PGA Tour Caribbean Swing continues as we venture across the gulf to El Camaleon Golf Club in Mexico. We’re looking at another short oceanside layout where the primary defense to low scoring will be the weather conditions. It’s important to keep an eye on this as the week progresses, as often there will be a significant wave advantage for certain players based on the wind like we saw last week in Bermuda.

You would be hard pressed to find another course on the PGA Tour circuit where the importance of accuracy off the tee is more important to success than El Camaleon. Several of the inland holes feel like they are nestled within the rainforest, with big numbers awaiting those who are wayward. The green surfaces this week feature paspalum grass which is common amongst courses nearing the equator. Is in generally slower than average and welcoming to approach shots as they are normally soft and spongy.

For my stat model this week, I’m going to stick with a lot that worked last week at the Bermuda Championship. We ended up with 4/5 players inside the top 22 and I feel like the two courses in general are very similar in terms of skill set correlation. This is one of the rare stops where we witnessed a player go Back-to-Back when Brendon Todd won both in 2020. I’m shifting a slightly higher emphasis on SG: OTT but in general looking to same many of the same metrics as last week. Here are my favorite DFS Picks in each price range for the World Wide Technology Championship…sounds important!

World Wide Technology Championship at Mayakoba Daily Fantasy Picks

10k+ Range: Billy Horschel @ $10,100

I’m willing to go down the clearance isle a bit here in the $10K+ range and ride with Billy Ho. He recently notched his biggest win in 7 years when he won the BMW PGA Championship on the European Tour in Mid-September. There’s reason to believe his game is even better suited in these geographically-Southern events where he’s proven to be most consistent throughout his career. He also has back to back top 10s in the 2 previous iterations of this event and ranks out #1 in SG: Total on short golf courses over his last 24 rounds.

9k Range: Aaron Wise @ $9,600

Plug your nose, close your eyes, and play Wise. These may be my famous last words. My reasoning is that I trust he’s going to have the most opportunities from the fairway. There’s no argument that there are options around him with more winning upside, but all those guys are less reliable in terms of accuracy off the tee which brings missed cut firmly into play at his track. Wise ranks 5th OTT over his last 12 rounds, 13th in Opportunities Gained, and finished in 2nd place here last December.

8k Range: Matt Fitzpatrick @ $8,800

Form. Accuracy. Putting. Fitzy checked all those boxes this week. An average performance last week where he finished T30 after battling uphill in the bad wave in conditions he called “the most difficult he had ever played in.” He’s been on a solid run of gaining significant strokes Off the Tee which have paired well with his #1 ranking in SG: Putting. If he can marry the two together for another week, he will be well suited for another run.

7k Range: Joaquin Niemann @ 7,800

As a popular pick on betting cards this week, sometimes we get this weird phenomenon where everyone bets a guy outright and doesn’t play him in Draftkings. Hoping that is the case this week. He played amazing at the beginning of last week on coastal, tropical courses that I make solid comps in the Sony and TOC in Hawaii. He’s taken a recent dip in success OTT but I’m hopeful he can rectify that this week at a lucrative price if he can find success in that area.

6k Range: Guido Migliozzi @ $6,900

Last week I loved my $6K selection in Svenny who made a solid run, this week I’m going with Guido. I love his upside at this price to get himself a T10 finish. There was good and bad last week at the Bermuda, but he showcased his ability to go low with a Friday morning 65 that featured 7 birdies. Here’s to hoping for a good putting week and solid performance from our favorite Italian amico.

Good luck friends, go cash!
