Hero World Challenge Daily Fantasy Picks and Predictions: Roll the Dice With Rory McIlroy

This week we have a unique event featuring 20 of the world’s best at the Hero World Challenge nestled just off the Coast of Nassua, Bahamas and played at the Albany Golf Course. Draftkings is running a large slate of contests including the Flop Shot with 300k in the prize pool so you can bet we are entering some lineups! We may see some overlay in these contests if they don’t fill so it could be a great week to take advantage of some asleep at the wheel.

I’m particularly fond of the Bahamas. Who wouldn’t be? I got married at a church about a mile away from the course this week. That may not matter to most, but I feel a positive energy coming into this week coupled with the fact we’re coming off a Gooch winner! Grab a rum runner and let’s do this!

I’m going to keep things simple this week. We all know the players well. Current form (and I mean very current) and course history are going to be the main elements I’m leaning upon. The Fall season in golf often becomes the de-facto offseason for many players and having recent tournament reps under your belt is always a positive sign. Over the years at this event, we have seen par 5 scoring play an important role in determining success given they are all reachable. I’m also looking to target some accuracy off the tee. There are random sprouts of trouble and water lurking on several holes that have given players fits, and we all know the fluffy white beach bordering many of the fairways can cause some “issues”. Let’s see if we can nail another winner!

Hero World Challenge Daily Fantasy Picks

10k+ Range: Rory McIlroy @ $10,800

I for one loved to see the fire and passion that was on display after a frustrating finish to the DP World Tour Championship. Perhaps his love for the game was given a shot of adrenaline post Ryder Cup as he has come off back-to-back great performances. It feels like we are on the verge of a Rory-tear incoming and I think he is deservingly the favorite to win this week given the current state of his game. Collin hasn’t been great coming off a victory and JT was simply too errant off the tee lately to put much consideration into when Rory is a reasonably priced upsell!

9k Range: Viktor Hovland @ $9,900

Hovland is the most underappreciated Driver of the golf ball in the game. He may be the best in the world Off the Tee right now because he has largely mitigated the miss to the right which has plagued him in the past. 1st in Good Drives Gained, 2nd in Fairways, 5th in Distance Off the Tee over his last 24 rounds (stats courtesy of Fantasy National). He seemingly loves Caribbean golf and I have some major concerns surrounding Bryson coming off some of his comments and play in The Match. Hovland is the play!

8k Range: Jordan Spieth @ $8,300

Spieth is my pick in the $8,000 range this week coming in off three consecutive top 6 finishes at the Hero in the previous iterations. He worked tirelessly through some changes to the swing mechanics that are starting to pay dividends off the tee regarding managing the massive miss. We know he is magic around the greens which will be helpful given some of the tricky, grainy Bermuda grass runoffs. Plus, baby swag!

7k Range: Abe Ancer @ $7,300

Here is the thing with a 20-man field, you’re obviously going to need to plug your nose and fade ownership if you want any shot at a GPP win. Burns is the obvious play in this range as he is severely mispriced, but I think it could lead to almost 50% ownership. We have to pivot down to Ancer here who is also coming in playing great. He has 4 top 15s in his last 5 PGA Tour starts and I think this course setup should favor his game nicely should he continue to pound the fairways.

6k Range: Brooks Koepka @ $6,800

As meaningless and often cringeworthy as The Match was at times, it may have been just what the doctor ordered for Brooks. His gas tank runs off confidence and always has. It was the first time we have seen him dawn the new Srixon setup and I thought he struck the ball great with the irons. The fairways are of generous width, and he has always had a propensity to play best on heavy Bermuda grass courses. I’m sure he rolled a few dice in Vegas last week and I’m willing to do the same this week on Koepka!

Good luck friends, go cash!
