THE PLAYERS Championship Daily Fantasy Picks and Predictions: All Hail King Rory McIlroy

The Florida swing continues and on tap for this week...THE PLAYERS Championship and the largest purse in history! TPC Sawgrass will once again play host to the "5th Major" and probably the deepest field in professional golf. The familiar Pete Dye design features an abundance of water and risk/reward opportunities. I would advise waiting until Wednesday to finalize your lineup because it appears we could be in store for a hectic week regarding the weather. More so than the rain, pay attention to the wind and you may be able to isolate an advantageous weather stack that could correlate to success much as it did last week at the Arnold Palmer Invitational.

The main thing I am targeting this week will be reviewing Tee to Green stats for players. I want to put an emphasis on their last 24 rounds and also look at how they have faired T2G at Sawgrass in the past. While course history can often be erratic at TPC Sawgrass, it's certainly a setup that fits the eye of some players and has others quite perplexed. Off the Tee will be just as important as an approach in terms of setting up player scoring opportunities. Many holes will allow players to hit less than the driver so finding the fairway and giving yourself a proper approach look will be important. The rough looks gnarly, so I will throw in some Around the Green and Scrambling into the model as well. Finally, I'll take a peek at the incoming form with the putter trying to find some players who are putting with confidence coming into this week.

Here are my favorite picks in every price range! All five made the cut last week so let's try for a repeat!

THE PLAYERS DFS Picks

$10k+ Range: Rory McIlroy $10,800

It's time to feed the King. When you factor in his 3 starts on the European Tour in the last couple of months, the incoming form is great. I think the conditions will be set up to reward his strengths this week more so than last week. He's putting it great right now (6th in SG: Putting over the last 24 rounds) and he ranks #1 overall in SG: T2G at TPC Sawgrass. He won this event the last time he missed a cut the year prior, and I make him the favorite to win it again this week!

$9k+ Range: Scottie Scheffler $9,200

I thought long and hard about Hideki here, but the hottest player on the planet is $400 cheaper and would appear to be coming in lower owned. 1st, 7th, 1st in his last 3 starts! He ranks #3 in SG: T2G over his last 24 rounds and #1 in par 4 scoring. I see no reason to not back him once again as he and new his caddie Ted Scott are in a groove right now. He showed the ability to be the best scrambler in the tournament last week which is huge in an event where we know he can make birdies but must avoid bogeys to win.

$8k+ Range: Brooks Koepka $8,600

Trust me, $3.6 Million dollars on the line and you will get Brooks' full attention. I've seen enough positive signs in the form as well to make this a solid value play. He gained over 5 strokes T2G at both Waste Management and the Honda which I think make good comps to TPC Sawgrass. He putts his best on this type of green surface which at this point is the biggest thing holding him back from being in "win-mode". I think he's here to win, and $8,600 is a bargain price on Brooks in a big-time tournament.

$7k+ Range: Sam Burns $7,900

I had a close eye on Burns last week looking for a spark. He delivered, +3.7 SG: Approach and a T9 finish. I noticed a pattern last year right before he won at Valspar, he had missed 3 consecutive cuts, then a decent finish and a spark, then he WON! Coming into the PLAYERS, he missed 3 consecutive cuts, had that spark last week, now I think he can win! Elite level upside for $7,900 so I'm clicking Burns in a lot of lineups this week.

$6k+ Range: Adam Hadwin $6,500

We have a steep cliff where things seem to fall off in the 6k range. I'm taking Adam Hadwin. I like the fact that he's one of the better guys Tee to Green in this range and a very underrated player around the greens. His bogey avoidance numbers are solid and I like he has some history of winning success in Florida and on these types of greens. In the mid 6's, I think he is your go-to guy!

Thanks once again for reading and good luck this week!
