Valero Texas Open Longshot Picks
Sam Eaton: Paton Kizzire @ +7000 (Bet $100 to win $7000)
I’d expect this to be a fairly popular play for many this week given his recent form and price, that said, I wouldn’t put people optin to go for Adam Hadwin at a similar price. Anyway, Kizzire finished T9 last year at the Texas Open, and key stats needed to master this course are trending in the right direction.
Kizzire ranks 14th in the last three months in this field when it comes to Ball Striking, 2nd in approach, 4th in scrambling and 9th in T2G. Given the strength of the field, I’m surprised PointsBet are offering +7000, especially when you see FanDuel Sportsbook as short as +5000.

Andy Lack: Kevin Streelman @ +7500 (Bet $100 to win $7500)
If I was asked to select one player to win this golf tournament, I would pick Kevin Streelman. That’s how confident I am in his chances this week, and I promise, it has nothing to do with our shared alma-mater. The former Duke University standout has made every cut at this tournament, with five top-20 finishes, including an eighth and sixth in his last two appearances. The two-time winner is coming off a seventh at the Valspar where he gained over seven strokes from tee-to-green. I believe he will be firmly in the mix come Sunday afternoon.

Rick Gehman: Brendan Steele @ +8000 (Bet $100 to win $8000)
The calendar year hasn't been kind to Steele but he's rounding into form with a T26 at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and T13 at THE PLAYERS Championship. His ball-striking numbers are right back on track but he continues to be a liability with the putter. That's not much of a concern because that's normal for Steele and in ten trips to TPC San Antonio, he's gained strokes putting five times. He also won this event in 2011.

Geoff Fienberg: Rasmus Hojgaard @+10000 (Bet $100 to win $10000)
Making the ceiling talent play this week on the young European who finished 6th in last week's sub-field event. Rasmus has the game to take full advantage of the opportunity in San Antonio between the course and the field this week. His distance off the tee will create opportunities for him in what I expect to be a birdie fest event that will require scoring around -20 or better for the week.

Tom Jacobs: Kevin Chappell @ +18000 (Bet $100 to win $18000)
After a close call with his namesake in this article last week, I’m going to chance Kevin Chappell can find something special this week.
Chappell has a win, a 2nd, a 4th and a 15th on this golf course, albeit a long time ago, and a return to form last week suggests he could go well at long odds, in a familiar setting.
It's been tough for Chappell whose slide down the rankings is a lot to do with injury, and hopefully, this very talented golfer can get back in contention, as he seems to have put the worst of his battles behind him.
