Zurich Classic Longshot Picks

Rick Gehman: Power/McDowell @ +5000 (Bet $100 to win $5,000)

This has all the makings of a great pairing! McDowell doesn't have the skill-set that he once had but will keep you in-play off-the-tee while offering immense experience in team formats. Power has earned back-to-back Top 10 finishes at this event while McDowell has earned three straight Top 25s. Now they come together to create a very interesting longshot.

Sam Eaton: Kizzire/Poston @ +6000 (Bet $100 to win $6,000)

Not going to spend much time on this event, as it’s woeful. Kizzire and Poston have had decent success at this event, with a T5 & T8 to their names.

Kizzire’s game is in good shape, gaining on average 2.2 shots on the field in approach in the last ten events, and has had three good showings with the putter recently.

Poston doesn’t come out well in many, if any, stat builds but heads into the event following a good showing at the RBC Heritage.

Tom Jacobs: Mitchell/Snedeker @ +6500 (Bet $100 to win $6,500)

This pairing finished T4 in this event last year, and while Snedeker is not in great form, Mitchell is more than capable of dragging them to a top-5 finish, while also hoping Snedeker will weigh in with some of his trademark putting. Snedeker has flashed a bit of form in recent weeks, as he hit middle rounds of 66-67 at the Valero Texas Open, with a final-round 75 hindering him from finishing higher, while he also finished T14 in the Amex. Mitchell may have to shoulder the responsibility this week but let's hope one of the more in-form players among the longshots this week, can deliver for another week!

Geoff Fienberg: McNealy/Bramlett @ +7500 (Bet $100 to win $7,500)

DraftKings is offering a 75/1 on this pairing but using the OC grid you'll see many shops offering odds as low as 40/1 on this pair.

No better way to attack the Zurich than going straight to narrative street, since it's hard to follow the data points in team-golf events. So that leads us right to this birdies-in-bunches squad (we hope) who reportedly are great pals, former roommates and even hunkered down during COVID together. But, I'm left to assume that just means Bramlett slept in one of Maverick's dad's guest houses.

All jokes aside, this team has the sort of ceiling required for me to take a chance on them at an event that has historically been kinder to the higher-ranked pairings.

Andy Lack: NeSmith/Moore @ +9000 (Bet $100 to win $9,000)

Matthew NeSmith is playing some excellent golf right, buoyed by his elite approach play. The putter is always a concern, but over-seeded Bermuda has been far and away his best surface. Taylor Moore is a little more unproven, but five Top-25 finishes already in his first PGA Tour season shows that the talent is there. Both are strong long iron players and coming in at a more than reasonable price.
