Last week was the PGA Championship which saw Justin Thomas take home the win at +1850. Sometimes though we don't always get to see someone with those kinds of odds win. Sometimes it's someone who is way back in the field and that's why we're going to take a look at some longshots.

Charles Schwab Challenge Longshot Picks
Joe Idone: Denny McCarthy (+16000) (Bet $100 to win $16000)
Take one glance at the historic Wall of Champions at Colonial and you will notice one thing that sticks out...great putters. Sticker, Johnson, Kisner, Na, and even prime putting Spieth have won here in the past and I think this makes an ideal location for perennial elite putter Denny McCarthy to finally breakthrough.
He's actually made 15 of his last 16 cuts in PGA Tour events, by far the best run of his career which includes a 48th at the PGA Championship after just getting into the event off a last minute WD. I still feel like he has the raw talent to put all the pieces together one week and this should present a quality opportunity at 160-1 which is currently the best number available on the Oddschecker grid over at Fanduel.

Rick Gehman: J.T. Poston (+20000) (Bet $100 to win $20000)
Colonial Country Club is going to ask for precision and accuracy off-the-tee, not power. That's good news for Poston who has Top 10 finishes at both TPC Potomac and Harbour Town -- two courses with similar requests. In his last four trips to Colonial, he's earned (2) Top 20 finishes and will look for more this week.

Tom Jacobs: Tom Hoge +7000 (Bet $100 to win $7000)
Tom Hoge has finished 17th here in the past, and the year he was 42nd, he was 6th at the halfway stage, and I trust him to take a step forward if in a similar situation this time. Hoge has ranked 9th and 2nd in SG Approach his past two starts, with the latter coming at the PGA Championship, in a field of the best players in the world. This isn't a random spike though, Hoge currently ranks 6th on Tour this season in SG Approach, and given his Texas background, he should relish a ball-strikers course in the lone-star state this week.17th and 9th in his last two starts, and now returning to a course that is more suited test than both, I thought the odds of +7000 on Hoge were more than fair, after he got the monkey off his back at Pebble Beach earlier this season.

Geoff Fienberg: Matthew NeSmith +18000 (Bet $100 to win $18000)
I'm going to the deep end this week with NeSmith 180/1 over at Draftkings. NeSmith ranks 29th on tour this year in strokes gained approach and his tee to green stats aren't far behind. In fact, the short-term stats are even kinder to him at the moment. Colonial is known for being a tactical golf course which works perfectly for NeSmiths game. Yes, I have noticed the first man on the course tee time for Thursday morning, creating a first round leader dynamic I might not be able to resist.
