British Open Top 5 Picks: Can Dustin Johnson Finish in the Top 5?
The PGA Tour will return to the Old Course at St. Andrews this weekend for the 150th edition of the British Open, as the on-course product is as good as it’s been in years. Following a withdrawal from the PGA Championship, three-time British Open champion Tiger Woods will make his return to competitive golf as much of the early attention will undoubtedly be on him.
Elsewhere, world #1 Scottie Scheffler will look to pick up his second major win of the season, but he’ll have to contend with the red-hot Xander Schauffele and Rory McIlroy, both of whom are playing as well as anyone in the world.

Scottie Scheffler (+350) to Finish Inside The Top 5 (Bet $100 to Win $350)
Another high finish (T2) in another major, yet Scheffler's odds still remains undervalued. After winning the Masters this year to finish off a run of four wins in two months, Scheffler continues to impress each and every week.
Here at St. Andrews, Scheffler should be able to use his distance to overpower the course, and his short game is second to none. It’s scary to think Scheffler’s best days may still be ahead of him, and I think we see that continue to prove itself true with another high result.
Dustin Johnson (+600) To Finish Inside The Top 5 (Bet $100 to Win $600)
Not for nothing, DJ is still playing some of the highest-level golf in the world despite the cloud of negativity over him following his departure for LIV. The 2020 Masters champion finished T8 last year, and this season has finished top 25 in two of three majors.
The last time we saw him here at St. Andrews, he held the 36-hole lead before collapsing late, and that, of course, was before we saw him really reach the prime of his playing career. While he’ll continue to get overlooked with the rest of the LIV guys, the talent is still there, and a strong showing wouldn’t surprise me in the slightest.
Kevin Kisner (+3500) To Finish Inside The Top 5 (Bet $100 to Win $3500)
Kisner is five for five in made cuts in his last five appearances in this tournament, and as he approaches 40, this might be one of his last realistic chances at finishing high. Currently in the top 20 in the field over his last 24 rounds in SG: Around-the-Green, SG: Short, and SG: Putting, Kisner has all the tools for success here at St. Andrews.
Four straight missed cuts over the course of May were followed up with a T6 in the Travelers Championship, as Kis seemed to find something in his short game that should translate well here. Despite missing the cut in his only appearance at St. Andrews in 2015, Kisner’s game has come a long way since, and I think his two competitive rounds here should help him come Thursday.
