Shane Lowry is one of my favorite picks to win the Open Championship this week. I am locking in on him against Justin Thomas at almost even odds.

2022 British Open Matchup Picks: Don't Miss This Shane Lowry Head-to-Head Best Bet

Shane Lowry is the definition of Irish Pride. He possesses a great track record at the Open Championship. Lowry won it back in 2019 at the Royal Portrush Golf Club, located on his native land Northern Ireland. That was the first time a championship was played on Ireland soil since 1951. He absolutely dominated that tournament and won by six strokes over Tommy Fleetwood.

2022 Open Championship Prediction

Lowry is actually grouped in Day 1 against Justin Thomas, who I will be fading this week. I also love this because the competitive vibes will come out of both players in Day 1. Lowry has yet to secure a win on tour this year and what better way to do in the Open Championship. He quoted “I always say the Masters is the most special tournament or one of the most special tournaments, but I think The Open in St. Andrews is more special than any tournament in the world.“

Lowry skipped the Scottish Open but did finish in ninth place a few weeks ago at the Irish Open. Lowry almost took down the Honda Classic this year finishing in second place. He also had two amazing weeks finishing in third place back to back at the Masters and RBC Heritage. As much as I like him this week to have a real chance of winning, he doesn’t need to for us to win. He just needs to beat Justin Thomas in four rounds of golf.

Thomas has been dealing with a back injury which could hinder his game significantly this week. He also didn’t make the cut last week at the Scottish Open, which could be a good sign for us bettors. I am locking this matchup in now at -110 odds and I will see you on the Dance Floor come Sunday!
