02/12 - New Jersey Devils @ St. Louis Blues
Pick: St. Louis Blues 3-Way ML (in regulation) -130
Let's get to business. The Blues are on an absolute tear coming into this one, having won 6 straight games against some really solid teams, including the Preds twice, the Lightning, Panthers, and Blue Jackets. They've been playing at a very high level against some extremely impressive competition, and their defense has been stifling, allowing just 1.83 goals per game while scoring 3.50 on the other end. They've been playing away from home a lot recently and return to the Enterprise Center to host the lowly Devils. New Jersey is coming off a win at home against Carolina but they lost 3 straight before that and have been a completely different team on the road this year, going 7-17-3 away from home compared to 14-9-5 on home ice. They've lost four of their last 6 games away from home allowing an average of 3.50 goals per game and that just isn't going to cut it against a rolling Blues team. The Devils have lost 7 of their last 8 games when playing their third game in four days and I don't think they'll present enough of a challenge to stop St. Louis's red-hot streak.
Jordan Binnington will start in goal for the Blues tonight and he's had an unbelievable start to his career with St. Louis, going 9-1-1 so far this season with an absurdly low 1.72 GAA. He's won 5 starts in a row with a 1.80 GAA in those games and has yet to lose at home this season - really impressive stuff. Meanwhile, Keith Kinkaid will mind the net for New Jersey and he hasn't even remotely had the same success, losing 6 of his last 8 starts with a 3.63 GAA in those games. I expect the Blues to feast on Kinkaid while Binnington stands firm on the other end.
