The Islanders have been arguably the biggest surprise of the season so far in the NHL as they continue to exceed expectations. They've won 4 of their last 5 hames allowing just 8 goals in those contests as their defense has been absolutely stifling for opposing offenses. They've been even better at home, winning 7 of their last 8 contests on home ice, outscoring opponents 24-1 and exhibiting clear dominance. I think they'll be licking their chops coming into thois one as they Hos an Oilders team that is going through some really times, not getting it done at all against teams of their caliber or above as they've dropped 9 straight games against teams with winning records. We made money fading them just last night and they've now lost 8 of their last 9 games. Their defense has been absolutely abysmal aas they've allowed 4.89 goals per game in that stretch and compared to the top-ranked defense on the other side I don't think Edmonton will be able to get past the Isles in this one.
Robin Lehner will start mind the net for the Isles and he's been really tough to beat lately, posting a 1.75 GAA in those games. He's also won 4 straight games at home with a 1.50 GAA in those games. He has a 1.72 GAA at home this season and has won 4 of 6 career starts against the Oilers with a 1.49 GAA. Meanwhile, Mikko Koskinen will start for the second night in a row in goal which is tough for any goaltender's performance, and even forgetting that he's still a bad option, losing 6 straight starts with a 3.33 GAA in those contests.
