02/20 - Boston Bruins @ Vegas Golden Knights
Pick: Boston Bruins ML +110
The Bruins come into Vegas riding a six-game win streak during which they've been red-hot, outscoring opponents 26-15 as their offense has really been firing on all cylinders lately. Their last three wins have all come on the road and they've scoring 13 goals in those victories including a 6-5 win in San Jose against the powerful Sharks. They allow the 2nd-fewest goals in the NHL so when their offense is clicking too they're a really dangerous team for anyone to face and I don't think they should be the underdogs in this one. They're facing a Golden Knights squad that has stumbled recently, dropping 4 of their last 5 games and 8 of their last 11. They've allowed a whopping 4.75 goals per game in their last 11 contests as their usually sturdy defense has been absurdly leaky. They haven't been much better at home, losing 5 of their last 6 games at the T-Mobile Arena allowing 3.67 goals per game in that span. Boston's been solid on the road lately winning 6 straight games away from home against teams with winning home records, and Vegas has lost 6 of its last 8 games as a favorite and 4 of its last 5 games as a home favorite. The Bruins took it 4-1 in their last meeting earlier this season and given the current form of both teams I like them to take it again over VGK.
Jaroslav Halak will get the nod in net for Boston and he's coming off two really solid outings in which he allowed just one goal combined in his two victories and he's won all 3 career outings against Vegas posting a 1.67 GAA against them with a .955 SV%. Meanwhile, Marc-Andre Fleury will start in goal for the Knights and he's been a total disaster lately, losing three straight outings with a horrid 4.67 GAA as he allowed no fewer than 4 goals in any of those outings - all of which were at home by the way. I give Halak the edge especially with the torrid form the Boston offense is currently in.
