The NHL features a nine-game schedule on Tuesday night with tons of twists and turns. Let’s try to make some sense of this crazy slate.

Here are Today’s NHL Picks:

Washington Capitals @ Toronto Maple Leafs

  • Washington’s last seven games have hit the over which is the longest current streak in the NHL according to Statschecker.

There is always a little risk here, but goals have been plenty in this matchup with three overs, a push, and an under in the last five meetings. Even with John Tavares out, there is a lot of star power and offense. Washington is 9-4 with the over and Toronto is 8-5 on the season. Both teams allow over three goals a game (Toronto – 3.6 at home, Washington 3.4 on the road). Washington and Toronto are porous down the middle and these two teams average more than 3.5 goals per contest. High-event hockey with several power-play goals are possible which makes the over more and more of a play here.

1u – Over 6.5 Total Goals @ +113

Minnesota Wild @ Dallas Stars

  • Dallas has dominated the series lately – sweeping all four games against the Minnesota Wild in 2018-19

Dallas has struggled mightily this season – coming out of the blocks with a poor 4-8-1 record. Minnesota comes in with a 4-7 record and toiling in mediocrity as well. Part of the Stars’ biggest problem is themselves and the schedule. They have only played six games at home (2-3-1) and have not gotten into a rhythm there. Now, Dallas will get a chance to do so. Minnesota has just a 1-6 record away from home on the season. The biggest thing for Dallas will be the schedule relaxes as they have played 13 games already. Dallas is also one of the few teams in the league averaging less than two goals a contest. That will not continue for much longer and Minnesota is a team they score well against (three goals a game over the previous six games). Ben Bishop and the Dallas Stars get well versus Minnesota on Tuesday night.

1u – Dallas Stars ML @ -140

Chicago Blackhawks @ Nashville Predators

  • Chicago and Nashville have played to the over in three of their last four matchups including the last two in Nashville – both 5-2 outcomes via statschecker.

Chicago has been normally more of an “under” team this season, but they travel to Nashville to face a high-flying Predators team on Tuesday night. Nashville has won eight of their last nine home games played on Tuesdays. More importantly, off an overtime game, Nashville has hit the over in four straight contests. Matt Duchene may also return for Nashville which would only boost their already prominent offense. The Predators do give up 3.6 goals per contest and the Blackhawks allow just over three a game. Nashville has connected on the over in eight of their 11 games this year. The idea is to go strength on strength which is why the over is the better bet here.

1u – Over 6.5 Total Goals @ +145

Calgary Flames @ Carolina Hurricanes

  • The Calgary Flames have hit the under in four straight road contests according to Statschecker.

This game pits a rested Carolina team that has won four of its last five games against a Calgary team that is 2-4-1 on the road. Calgary has also taken three of the previous four contests in this series where only one game has connected on the over. Carolina is 7-4 on the over this year but Calgary is just 5-7-1. Also, both teams are holding opponents to under three goals a game. Going up a goal hurts the profit margin but gives a better chance of success. Take the under.

1u – Under 6.5 Total Goals @ -133
