NHL expert Chris Wassel's picks for today's hockey action
ANALYSIS

The NHL comes back at us with nine big games on Tuesday night. It is time to get moving and try to rake in more cash!

Here are Today’s NHL Picks:

Florida Panthers @ Boston Bruins

  • Boston has won its last seven Tuesday night games at home. (statschecker).

Boston and Florida do like to play some high-scoring contests. There has been a total of 22 goals over their previous three meetings. Also, injuries have evened this matchup a bit which makes this pick a bit riskier than it looks. However, Boston has a good history when facing Sergei Bobrovsky and the former Columbus goaltender has been giving up 3+ goals regularly in the early going. Boston’s top line has the best projection of the night even going up against Florida’s top line. Again, look at the over too. They may have to outscore Florida but Boston is our pick here.

1u – Boston Bruins ML @ -163

Nashville Predators @ Vancouver Canucks

  • Seven of the last eight Nashville games following a shootout win have hit the over.

Also, Nashville has won their last six games on a Tuesday. That is one of those crazy stats which one cannot make up. There is a lot to like with this matchup from an offensive standpoint. Nashville scores a good bit and they give up a lot as well (7.43 goals per game combined on the road). Vancouver is no slouch at home with 4.14 goals per game for. The nice part so far is Vegas has this game very evenly matched based on reputation partially. Nashville is a rather ordinary 3-3-1 on the road while Vancouver is 4-1-2 at home this year. Seeing even money on Vancouver is an appetizing option to choose on Tuesday night.

1u – Vancouver Canucks ML @ +100

Minnesota Wild @ Los Angeles Kings

  • The Minnesota Wild’s last four games have gone past the over line and that includes a few road contests as well. (statschecker).

Neither team has been particularly great this season. Minnesota has gotten off to a god-awful start but has looked better of late. Los Angeles was an entertaining group the first five or six games then fell off. It is hard to get away from Minnesota’s 3-9 road record and instead focus on Minnesota’s defense which has been as horrid as the Kings. The Kings are yielding 3.9 goals per game while the Wild allow 3.6 (3.75 goals per game on the road). This game has the potential to be a dud but both penalty kills are very suspect here too. The Kings rank 30th and Minnesota’s ranks 23rd on the road. Keep an eye on the Los Angeles moneyline but our pick is with the over here tonight.

1u – Over 5.5 Total Goals @ -133

Arizona Coyotes @ St. Louis Blues

  • The Blues have won their last seven games and the under has hit in eight of Arizona’s last nine contests coming off a shootout.

This game sets up well on multiple fronts. There is a solid line dangled at -1.5 goals for St. Louis at +170. That will be a number to keep an eye on as game time approaches. St. Louis keeps finding ways to win even without Vladimir Tarasenko. Their 12-3-3 mark includes a 5-1-2 mark at home. The big concern with the Blues is the one-goal victories. They have four of those in their previous five outings. It is why we take a different tact to hedge on Tuesday night. Take the under on Tuesday night as St. Louis seeks to slow pace down a little bit compared to their recent form at home.

1u –Under 5.5 Total Goals @ -125
