Detroit Red Wings vs. Boston Bruins: Odds, Picks & Predictions
PICK OF THE DAY: (2u) Red Wings +1.5 @ +125
- The Boston Bruins have a 77-122 against the spread record after a win playing as a home team since the 2012-13 NHL season. Stat courtesy of Statschecker.
The reason we’re backing the Red Wings
The Detroit Red Wings are one of the worst teams in the entire NHL, and they will be facing one of the league’s best when they travel to Boston to take on the Bruins on Saturday afternoon.
The Red Wings are coming off back-to-back losses to the Buffalo Sabres and New Jersey Devils. In the game against the Devils, Andreas Athanasiou scored the lone goal for Detroit in a 4-1 loss in New Jersey.
With all of that said, the Red Wings are actually on a five-game winning streak against the Bruins. Shocking, right? So far this season, these two teams squared off twice in Detroit, and the Red Wings came away with both victories. Back on Nov. 8, the Red Wings had a 4-2 win, and then just last Sunday, Feb. 9, Detroit pulled out a 3-1 victory.
I know this game is in Boston, but I like the Red Wings plus the 1.5 goals in this game. Take Detroit here.
(1u) Predators +1.5 @ -240
- The Nashville Predators have a 15-6 against the spread record against the St. Louis Blues at the Enterprise Center since the 2012-13 NHL season. Stat courtesy of Statschecker.
The reason we’re backing the Predators
The Nashville Predators will look to stay hot after a big win against the New York Islanders.
Craig Smith finished with three goals, and goaltender Juuse Saros came away with 31 saves in net to lead the Predators to a 5-0 shutout win over the Islanders in New York.
The St. Louis Blues, the reigning NHL champions, are only 2-5-3 over their last 10 games, so there is no doubt about it that they are very vulnerable right now even at home. The Predators, on the other hand, are winners of five of their past eight, and they are within three points of the last wild card spot in the Western Conference.
The Predators have already beaten St. Louis twice this year so they will most certainly present a challenge in this game.
Take Nashville plus the 1.5 goals here against the Blues.
(1u) Blackhawks +1 @ -133
- Since the 2016-17 NHL season, the Chicago Blackhawks have a 7-4 against the spread record against the Calgary Flames in night games. Stat courtesy of Statschecker.
The reason we’re backing the Blackhawks
The Chicago Blackhawks will look to put an end to a five-game losing streak on Saturday night against the Calgary Flames.
Their most recent loss came on Wednesday night to the Canucks in Vancouver. The Blackhawks managed to put a lot of shots on target in the game, but they failed to come out alive even with a goal. Canucks goaltender Jacob Markstrom had a career-high 49 saves between the pipes, and Vancouver cruised to a 3-0 win.
This losing streak has to come to an end, right? On Saturday night in Calgary it will.
Take the Blackhawks plus the 1.5 goals in this one.
