For the Carolina Hurricanes vs Boston Bruins action tonight, Matt O'Leary shares his same-game parlay pick.

NHL Picks and Parlays: Carolina Hurricanes vs Boston Bruins

The Carolina Hurricanes have looked like the best team in the Metropolitan Division out of the gate. They’ve only played five games, but they are 5-0 on their season with a +14 goal differential. As for Boston, it’s been a little bit more of a slow start as they sit at 3-2 through their first five games of the season.

Tonight, these two teams take the ice in Carolina. Will the unbeaten streak for Carolina continue or will Boston snap out of it? I have a same-game parlay for the NHL action tonight that I want to take a look at.

Carolina Hurricanes vs Boston Bruins Betting Odds

Leg 1: Carolina Hurricanes ML

Through the team’s first five games of the year, the Carolina Hurricanes have been nearly unstoppable offensively. They have five players who are at a point per game or better and Andrei Schechnikov is playing at a goal per game pace with five in the first five games. Carolina is averaging an insane 4.4 goals per game right now.

What makes them an even more dangerous team is what Frederik Andersen is doing in net. In his first year with the team, he has a .946 save percentage and a 1.60 goals against average. Playing in front of a much more sound defensive team is surely helping his resurgence.

In a back-to-back situation you can all but confirm that Jeremy Swayman is going to get the start tonight for Boston with Linus Ullmark getting the nod yesterday. On two days rest, Carolina is 7-3 in their last 10 and they’re 11-4 in their last 15 home games. For a team that just played last night, Boston is in for a tough one tonight.

Leg 2: Under 5.5 goals

The under?! Yes, I understand how much firepower these teams have but all signs point to a low-scoring game. In their last four games on two-day rest, the Hurricanes have hit the under four times. In five of their last six home games they’ve hit the under and if you want to go back even further, in their last 27 home games the under is 18-7-2.

As a road underdog, the Bruins are 5-1 to the under in their last six and when following a loss of three goals or more, the under is 6-2 for Boston. Yes, obviously these two teams have the potential to put up goals but it doesn’t always work out that way. With how Andersen is playing in net, this might not be that hot of a take.
