Rangers vs. Golden Knights Prediction

Revenge is a dish best served cold, and tonight we expect to get it on the cold New York ice. Las Vegas Knights, an expansion team, go to the Stanley Cup championship in their first year, and the coach wins Coach of the Year honors (as he should have ). Who is this coach, you ask? It's Gerard Gallant, the coach of the New York Rangers in his first game coaching against the Knights. You know this one has been circled all year, and no Covid in this game yet but lots of question marks, and if we get what we want even better, either way, we feel safe and like the spot no matter who is playing.

New York is missing their best offensive weapon in Artemiy Panarin, who is leading the team in points, but in true New York tradition, someone has stepped up in Kaapo Kakko and got two points and a win, of course, in their last game. We would love to see the stud goalie Igor Shesterkin tonight as he is why New York is second in the East, leading the NHL in save percentage and 7th goals against. He is ready, but the Rangers haven't said if they will play him or wait another week. Either way, the backup, Alexander Georgiev, has been great, and we would be ok with him in goal also. Interestingly, the Rangers would be number one in the West yet are only 4th in the East, which tells us a lot about the conferences.

Las Vegas is hot; there is no question about it winning six out of seven. They have been scoring goals at a tremendous rate, but let's remember this is their third game in four nights (on the road) and playing a top defensive team in New York. On top of that, their old coach knows them as well as anyone, and we expect a Patriots-like performance from the Rangers. Interesting numbers for both teams here, and why we like the Rangers as well is that LV is 13-0 and NY is 10-0 when leading after two periods. Goalies clampdown and we feel the Rangers have a considerable edge there no matter who is in the pipes versus the Knights backup goalie Lauren Brossoit who is off to an awful game and makes bad offenses look good. It'sIt's also very important to remember the Rangers are the 6th best in penalty kill, and LV has been awful at those all year.

Lastly, the Knights aren't beating the top teams lately as their schedule is a little soft, and they got 0 points from their top line when those guys had 17 in the last two games. So telling us the scores don't tell you everything. The Ranger'sRanger's strength is what has been the Knights'Knights' weakness lately. With that and a huge advantage in goal and a guy trying to prove he can be the #1 scorer and, of course, the coach who was thrown away wanting to get that revenge means only one thing. Rangers win 4-2 tonight, take the generous +120 and let's win another dog together.
