Pittsburgh Penguins vs St. Louis Blues Prediction

Both teams enter tonight’s contest off big wins over the weekend, the Blues downed Minnesota 6-4 in the Winter Classic on Saturday while the Penguins defeated the Sharks 8-5 at home on Sunday.

The Blues are relatively healthy as of this writing, and the Penguins are missing Jeff Carter, Jason Zucker, and Evgeni Malkin who is nearing a return. On the road, the Blues are averaging 3.06 goals per game while allowing 3.06 as well. They are also averaging 31.19 shots per game while allowing 32.75.

St. Louis has turned into more of an offensive team this year as they like to push the pace. Youngster Jordan Kyrou has provided a spark for this team on the 2nd line with Robert Thomas and Vladimir Tarasenko. At home, the Penguins are averaging 3.13 goals per game while allowing 2.69. They are also averaging 36.38 shots per game while giving up 31.25.

They are one of the deepest teams in the NHL. Evan Rodrigues has been a key offensive player for them as his 13 goals and 26 points both rank 2nd on the team. Both teams have top 5 Penalty kills, with the Penguins ranking 1st and the Blues ranking 5th.

However, both teams score goals five on five. St. Louis has scored 73 five on five goals this season which is 7th in the league. The Penguins have scored 70 five on five goals this season which is 9th in the league. I think both teams will continue their recent scoring pace tonight in Pittsburgh.

Pittsburgh Penguins vs St. Louis Blues Pick

  • St. Louis Blues at Pittsburgh Penguins over 6 (-110)
