Dallas Stars vs. Seattle Kraken Prediction

We return to the ice tonight as we have a fairly short slate on this Wednesday night featuring just three games. I was able to find a play I loved for us tonight that we will make some extras cash on. The play I am looking to will be a Western Conference affair between the Seattle Kraken and the Dallas Stars.

The Kraken, who is the NHL's newest franchise as this is their first season as a team, have struggled mightily so far this season. The Kraken comes into this game tonight sporting an overall record of 10-20-4, which is good for dead last in their division. The Kraken will have to turn things around fast if they want to have any chance to compete and make it into the postseason. A bright spot for the Kraken has been Jared McCann. The twenty-five-year-old center has led them this season in goals with fourteen.

The Stars come into this game playing pretty good hockey this year with an overall record of 17-13-2. This Stars team has had to deal with a decent amount of cancellations this year as expected with COVID. They have looked like a team that will make a postseason run when they have played. Captain Jamie Benn leads them, but their best player has been veteran and long-time San Jose Shark Joel Pavelski this season. He has thirteen goals this season while adding seventeen assists. The bright spot for the Stars has been their defense and goaltending. The Stars went into the season thinking veteran Brandon Holtby would be their starting goalie, but he hit the injured list, and they have turned to Jake Oettinger. Oettinger, a first-round pick by Dallas in 2017, has been great for the Stars with a record of 8-2 and a GA/G average of 2.22, which ranks top ten in the NHL. He also ranks top ten in save percentage on the season.

The play I am going with in this game tonight is going to be the under at six. Let's get into why I love this play. The first reason is the Dallas Stars have been a great defensive team all year long. Their goaltending has been on fire, and that will continue in tonight's game. The Stars are also not an extremely explosive offensive team, so I do not see them scoring more than three goals in this game tonight. I trust the backline of the Kraken enough in this spot to be able to hold down the Stars.

The Kraken are one of the worst teams in all of the NHL at scoring the puck as they are averaging just 2.79 goals per game. The Starts allowing just 2.91 per game really does make me love this bet tonight. I think this flies under the six-goal mark, and we see some excellent defense and goaltending tonight from start to finish.
