San Jose Sharks vs. New York Rangers Prediction

We will start by saying we hope he is back tonight. One of the best goalies in the game, but even without him, we still like the play. The man we are talking about is Igor Shesterkin. If you missed the Sharks versus Red Wings game from Tuesday, you need to watch overtime because what happened is something you may only see once a year involving a toy octopus. Hopefully, that doesn't happen tonight if you are a Rangers fan, as San Jose is now 6-0 in overtime games this year which is very hard to do. If this game does go into overtime, we hope it's 1-1 or, at worst, 2-2, so we get what we need. One of the best things about NHL overtime is you can't give up more than one goal, so if you have 5.5 and it's 2-2, you win as soon as you hear overtime, unlike all the other sports where there is plenty of scoring in overtime, and you end up losing an under.

The Rangers are coming off a bad loss as they only scored one goal for the second time in four games. Even though they got their star Artemi Panarin back for the first time, they were outshot 39-23, hence why they lost. However, with another game under his belt, he should be better, and with Shesterkin 15-4-2 and giving up only 2.09 goals a game in the net, this might be the same type of game as the Kings game.

It's pretty simple both of these teams are better on defense than on offense as the numbers tell us NY and San Jose are below average, ranking 20th and 21st offensively while the Rangers are the 4th best on defense and would be even better if their goalie was in all year. San Jose has scored 3 goals or less in their last four games and 7 out of their previous 10. One man is leading the team in almost all offensive categories, Timo Meier, so if you shut him down, you can hold San Jose below three goals.

The numbers all tell us the same thing tonight: NY is under 7-0-1 last 8 against the West, 4-0-1 last 5, 5-0-1 versus Pacific, and they haven't gone over yet in 2022. The Sharks are under 13-4 versus the Metro and 4-1 after a win, as happened in their last game. With Shesterkin back and both of these teams well below average offensively, there is only one way to go. If this game does go to overtime, let's hope it's 1-1 or 2-2. Stay up late and cash under 5.5 in San Jose with us.
