New York Rangers vs. Los Angeles Kings Prediction

Let's go to New York tonight as the New York Rangers face off against the Los Angeles Kings. We feel this game has been circled for quite a while for the New York Rangers as they last played January 10 versus the Los Angeles Kings and got beat 3 to 1. The New York Rangers had their backup goalie Alexander Georgiev in that game. We will have who I feel is the best goalie in the NHL this year in Igor Shesterkin (coming off probably his worst game giving up three goals). This guy is 19-4 with almost a 94% save percentage in giving up just over two goals a game. The Los Angeles Kings played last night in New Jersey and escaped with a 3-2 victory. While the New York Rangers have had a couple of days off after starting slowly against Arizona, they destroyed Arizona in a 7-3 win. When Igor is in goal, this team is entirely different. It's amazing how they play so much better. Also, this team is the third-ranked defense giving up only 2.5 goals a game, and they're playing the number 21 offense in the Los Angeles Kings, who are not known for their offense usually (26th in power play).

The Kings have Jonathan Quick in goal tonight, and if this were five years ago, that would be great, but recently Jonathan Quick has not been the same goalie from years past as he is only 11-10 on the year plus 2-3 his last 5 giving up almost 3.5 goals. This does not bode well when the Rangers have scored three or more goals in 10 of their previous 12 games (over five goals at home during that span). The Rangers have a four-headed monster scoring over 40 points already this year. The surprise is Chris Kreider, as he is tied for the lead with 29 goals this year. When he scores, the Rangers usually win. They are 8-3 in their last 11, and since the Kings game, he has been scoring, and we feel he will score again tonight and keep his streak going. The Rangers are as healthy as they've been in a long time. This team has also won their last four home games (12-3 at home on the year). They also won eight out of their previous nine at home as the favorite in the New York versus Los Angeles series, and the home team has won six out of the last seven.

Playing at home with revenge for one of the worst performances of the year and having a goalie who is all world plus they have two days off after this game, we expect this game to be a very focused one for the Rangers as they just took over first place in the Metro. It is tough to pass up the Rangers -150 tonight. We would also recommend a three-way play if you would like to save a little juice, but the Rangers should win by at least two goals tonight. Lay it tonight.
