New Jersey Devils vs Toronto Maple Leafs Prediction: Let the Goals Flow
The theme of my article last night was simple: if it isn’t broken, why fix it? Tonight, I am going to put my money where my mouth is and really double down on that notion.
Now if you missed last night’s article you might want to give it a quick glance because it has some insight on the way I look at things. We were on the over three different ways in the matchup between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the New Jersey Devils and enjoyed a nice clean sweep thanks to a lovely 6-4 shootout in Toronto.
I do not see anything changing tonight.Â

New Jersey Devils vs Toronto Maple Leafs Prediction
Last night I was an avid supporter of the Maple Leafs side of the equation especially because I love fading Devils netminder Akir Schmid, which once again did not disappoint, however, we do not have the luxury of seeing him between the pipes tonight. It does not change the two things I said about them last night, however: The Maple Leafs love to score goals and beat the New Jersey Devils.
No part of the goalie situation in New Jersey is pretty, that won’t be an issue. The over will be the play again here so if the Devils are able to sneak a couple past Jack Campbell, we are golden.Â
I am pretty sure we are golden here.
These teams have now combined to score nine or more goals in four of their last five meetings. The Maple Leafs have also walked away with their two points in every contest, however, that does not reflect the Devils play as they have done more than enough to help these totals go over.Â
I’m going to bring up one more thing and it applies to a lot of the overs I dig my teeth into. The pace at which two teams play the game in combination with the knowledge of how two teams have played each other in the past can usually help you predict how a game will go.
The New Jersey Devils and Toronto Maple Leads last three games have seen nine or more goals, including ten last night. The Devils have scored or conceded a goal in the first ten minutes of now twelve consecutive hockey games. The Leafs are 9-1 L10 first period o1.5’s and the Devils are right there with them at 7-3 L10.Â
They scored five in the first period last night.Â
Goals will come early, and they will come often in this one. The bookmakers are giving us virtually the same lines on two of the plays we crushed yesterday. We take them and say thank you. Best of luck if you tail!
