We have a pretty short slate in the NHL, but I found one game I love for us. The New York Islanders will travel north of the border to take on Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers.

Edmonton Oilers vs. New York Islanders Prediction

The Islanders come into this game sporting a record of 17-17-1. This has been one of the best teams in the east the last couple of seasons, but this year has been a struggle for the Islanders. They started the season playing only road games due to an issue with their home stadium, so they have been put in a tough position this season. This is still a good team, but playoff hopes seem slim at this point for the Islanders unless they are able to turn the corner fast.

The Oilers come into this game with a record of 23-18-3. They represent the best player in the NHL and perhaps the most fun player to watch of all time in Connor McDavid. The Oilers started the season as one of the best teams in the west, but their recent struggles have forced them out of a playoff position in the western conference. Typically when this stuff goes on, changes will be made, and it usually starts with the head coach. The Oilers fired Dave Tippet yesterday due to their recent woes. They will look to get back on track in a big game tonight at home vs. this Islanders team. 

I will be backing the Oilers on the moneyline tonight. I think this is a perfect buy-low spot for this Edmonton team who will be playing desperately for a win tonight. I also like the angle of their head coach just being fired, and they should come out ready to go and focused tonight. New York has struggled to score this season, and Edmonton, when right, is one of the most electric teams in all of the NHL on offense. Edmonton’s issue has been their defense and goals against but playing an offense that is not that great; I think this is a good matchup for the Oilers here tonight. I will be backing the Oilers on their home ice tonight and believe this is the perfect time for a bounce back and a big run of wins for the Oilers. Let’s keep things rolling on the ice tonight!
