Minnesota Wild vs. Carolina Hurricanes prediction and pick for Saturday's matchup by handicapper Allie O'Neill.
ANALYSIS

Minnesota Wild vs. Carolina Hurricanes Best Bet: Light the Lamp

Tonight, the Carolina Hurricanes head to St. Paul to face the Minnesota Wild. This will be the first time that these teams have faced each other since December 2019, but I think we’ll see things pick right up where they left off, as six consecutive games between these two teams have gone over. This season, the Wild and the Canes are two of the top five highest scoring teams in the league, so it makes sense to take the over tonight.

Wild vs. Hurricanes Over/Under Movement

Minnesota Wild vs. Carolina Hurricanes Prediction

Both teams are more than capable of contributing their fair share of goals to this over. The Hurricanes have a seemingly easy opponent in Cam Talbot, who has 3.12 GAA at home this season. Considering the Canes are scoring an average of 3.42 goals per game on the road this season, it’s safe to assume that they will get a few off Talbot. The Wild must score on Frederik Andersen, which might be difficult as he posts an admirable 1.93 GAA on the road this season. Despite Andersen’s intimidating stats, there’s still reason to have faith in Minnesota’s offense. The Wild are 14-3-1 at home, where they score an impressive 4.50 goals per game. Most importantly, only three of their 18 home games have had fewer than six total goals scored. If anything, Talbot’s struggles in net act as a catalyst for the Wild offense at home.

The Wild get defenseman Matt Dumba back tonight, but will, unfortunately, be without left winger Marcus Folgino, who is currently serving the first game of his two-game suspension. Still, Minnesota and Carolina are currently two of the healthiest teams in the league. Both teams will be able to utilize their top scorers in order to keep a competitive, and hopefully high scoring game.
