Columbus Blue Jackets vs Calgary Flames Prediction: Expect a Barn Burner North of the Border

Last night we enjoyed a nice sweep on our two totals and the moneyline parlay so tonight we are heading right back to that well. There is gorgeous NHL slate tonight for us to get after, so let’s get after it.

Columbus Blue Jackets vs Calgary Flames Prediction

I love goals.

Tonight, the Columbus Blue Jackets are heading north of the border to take on the scorching hot Calgary Flames; no pun intended there it’s an indisputable fact. They are 11-2 across their last thirteen contests and are putting on a clinic when it comes to putting biscuits in the basket. In those wins, they have scored: four goals three times, five goals three times, six goals twice, and seven goals once.

I locked in the over on this one last night without knowing who would be in net. That’s sacrilegious in terms of my personal “hockey betting bible”; I usually consider goalies to be one of the factors on all my over reads, although not always.

Sometimes you know who will be in net without it being announced, other times it simply does not matter because you know the offensive firepower and pace will be there regardless of who is between the pipes. Tonight is one of those nights where I did not care, however, things are even better than I could have imagined for us in this one here.

I thought it would be Jacob Markstrom for Calgary. He is a stud and has only given up 76 goals through 36 starts this season for a stellar 2.12 GAA and they have been riding the hot hand with him. It’s not. The Flames are starting Daniel Vladar and giving Jacob Markstrom the night off. Vladar has not started since he went out for back-to-back games against the Bolts and Carolina on January 6 and 7. Between those two starts, he gave up ten goals.

With that said, it really would not have mattered to me if he was in net as the pace of this game will generate plenty of opportunities for the Blue Jackets to net a couple; that is if the Flames don’t hit the over for us themselves.

The Columbus Blue Jackets are not a bad hockey team, I believe they are not that far from being a solid squad. They play with great pace, they can move the puck and they will force the issue tonight. I do not expect them to roll over, and they should do their part to help us out. They just can’t stop a nosebleed and they play awful defense. They are sporting a 3.71 GAA on the road this season and rank within the bottom five teams in the league in terms of SA/G (35.4), goals allowed, and HDCA.

CBJ ranks fourth-best in the league for 1P o1.5 and 2nd best for GIFT’s, hitting over 67% on the season and 80% across their L10. Calgary ranks more among the middle of the pack on the season but four months ago does not matter right now, they are a different team now; they are 7-3 L10 1P o1.5’s and 8-2 L10 Gifts.

This one should be a barn burner and I have been licking my chops the more I have dove into the numbers. Tonight’s two-team money line parlay will be coming in the next article.

As always, best of luck to those who tail. Let's rip!
