When I saw this slate on the board guys let me tell you something, I smiled. If you know anything about me, you know I love goals and I’ve developed an approach to how to make a lot of my reads based on them as I find them to be more predictable in certain situations. I’ve had two games on this slate tonight on my mind today like a middle school crush.

When two elite teams face off against each other you see fireworks more often that not and I expect them all across the board, however, there are two games in particular with all the variables we love to have when we attack an over.

Carolina Hurricanes vs Florida Panthers Prediction

To kick off our evening, the very well-rested Florida Panthers will be heading to Raleigh to take on the Carolina Hurricanes. When it comes to power rankings, both of these squads are unquestionably ranked within my top five overall as well as top five to take home the Stanley Cup this season. They play electric hockey and are relentless in their play almost every single time those skates touch the ice.

Every team in the league has a philosophy by which they want to play the game; these two share similar ones. Carolina and Florida are both known to be relentless in the first period and try to bury teams as quickly as possible. 

Florida does not care if they concede goals, their entire agenda is outpacing everyone and if they get going early it is a light show. They have scored more goals than anyone else in the league this year and are netting 4.09 GF/G in all situations.  

They will score more goals than you and they will make you keep pace if you want to stand the chance; they know they are better and they play that way. That is their philosophy, and we appreciate it greatly.

The Hurricanes are a bit better defensively yet that means nothing when these teams face off and they play at this speed. This one’s a derby and the fastest horse wins, I genuinely believe that both teams are aware of this. Carolina will be more than willing to do their part as they are averaging 3.62 GF/G at home this season and will be looking for a statement win tonight after dropping a 4-3 game to Florida last month. Sergio Bobrovsky has not played or seen live action in two weeks and Carolina will take advantage of that.

The Canes have cashed 15 of 21 (71.43%) GIFT’s at home this season and Florida was 8-2 L10 heading into their extended break. Both Carolina and Florida are hitting over 65% on the season in all situations. Florida is the best team for cashing 1P o1.5’s in the league; they are 32/47 hitting a tad shy of 70% on the season and were 7-3 heading into the break.
