Toronto Maple Leafs vs. St. Louis Blues Prediction: Look for an Encore From These Squads

We took advantage of a small slate yesterday and enjoyed a nice sweep in a great matchup between two of the best clubs in hockey. Saturdays tend to have bigger slates and although there is money to be made across the board, there are two games, in particular, I am looking to get after here tonight.

The first is what should be a slugfest In Canada as the St. Louis Blues continue their visits with our northern neighbors and face off against the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Leafs vs. Blues Total Movement

Toronto Maple Leafs vs. St. Louis Blues Prediction

These two heavyweights met in St. Louis earlier this season in a game that Toronto came back to win 5-4 and the pace was incredible; I expect the same here tonight as I always do when looking to attack a total. These two offenses are incredibly potent and play all-around good hockey; both squads are also highly motivated to win this one.

We have been on the past few Blues games and have covered some of the main storylines to be aware of previously so I will not dive into it too deeply. They had a goalie controversy but it is resolved for the time being; the squad is electric and built for another deep run in the playoffs.

If they put themselves in a spot to do it. It is not time to panic, and I am confident they will be where they need to be by the end of April, but they dropped a bad one the other night. After two five goal victories they played a piss poor game in Montreal committing six penalties and dropping a 3-2 game in overtime.

You have to take care of business; you have to get your points where they come easiest. Losing to a bad team that has no business playing with you is not how you take care of business and now they have to get those two points somewhere else. I am not saying that they win this one tonight, but I expect them to play to their competition and look for some revenge after dropping the first meeting at home this season.

In my opinion, Toronto is coming off a statement victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins. They were outshot 41-26 but netminder Jack Campbell played on top of his head; the Leaf’s capitalized on every mistake the Penguins made and were crazy effective in their breaks offensively.

Their forecheck in the third period was still really on point and they look great. Obviously, they are contenders as well despite disappointing early exits from the playoffs in previous years; the second half of the season is where you get down to business and I expect the narrative of this team to be that they are playing their best hockey heading into round one and that starts here.

They love to play at home and are putting up 3.42 GF/G on their own ice; they also hold a lead leading 34.8% Power play percentage at home which is absurdly effective. I expect some regression from Campbell; he is very good but has not played that well consistently all season long. Toronto will play great in front of him regardless and I believe the pace of play and talent of these two squads is going to make the score log in this one exciting once again.

We are attacking this game a few ways; here’s what I got. Best of luck to all who tail! We ride.
