ANALYSIS

Vancouver Canucks vs New Jersey Devils Best Bet: Will It Be a Low Scoring Game?

My NHL best bets have been on a big run the last two weeks! We are currently representing a record of 10-3 on these the last couple of weeks, and I found another winner for us tonight!

The Vancouver Canucks will travel east to take on the New Jersey Devils tonight. The Devils are one of the worst teams in all of the NHL after coming into the season with expectations of being a postseason team. A bright spot for the Devils this season has been Swedish-born forward Jesper Bratt. Bratt enters play, scoring eighteen goals on the season while also dishing out thrifty assists. He will look to continue his good season in tonight’s game against this Canucks team. The Canucks also entered the year hoping to be a playoff team, but they will have to do some work to sneak into a contested playoff picture.

The Canucks come into this game with a record of 26-22-6 and currently sit three points out of the final wildcard spot in the West. This will be a game tonight that they feel they should take care of business, although the betting lines would suggest otherwise. The Devils come into this game as the short favorite tonight, currently sitting as a -125 favorite on the money line. The devils have been a better home team this year, but they still haven’t been all that good at home, supporting a record of 10-13-3 on home ice.

The pick I am going with in this game is not going to be on a side but the total. I am looking at the under in this game tonight which is currently sitting at 6.5. I do not think either of these teams have a ton of firepower on the offensive end. The reason this total sits a bit higher is due to the fact that the goalie play has not been great on either side this season.

The Canucks enter play, averaging just 2.76 goals per game, while the Devils are scoring about three goals per game. I am willing to fade both offenses in this spot and trust the goalie play here tonight. Neither of these teams play with a ton of pace, so I could see this game being a low-scoring affair that ends 2-1 or 3-2. I did sprinkle some here on the alternate total under at five for a really good payout. I think we get a low-scoring game here that does not contain enough of a pace to get the over the number. Let’s stay on this hot run in hockey and keep things rolling along tonight!
