The play I am looking at tonight will concern a pair of western conference teams as the Calgary Flames will head to the mile-high city to take on the Colorado Avalanche. These are two of the best teams in all of the NHL and will be competing in the postseason for a Stanley cup run.

The Flames enter play, representing a record of 32-14-7, while the Avalanche enter play sporting a record of 40-11-4. These two teams lead their divisions as the Avalanche look like they are well on their way to winning the regular season western conference championship. They are thirteen points ahead of the Flames for the one seed overall. The Flames, who are currently the number two seed, will be hungry to pull off the upset tonight on the road.

They have been outstanding this season on both sides of the puck, and the Avs know they will be tested tonight. The star for the Flames this year has been New Jersey native Johnny Gaudreau. Johnny has been one of the best in all of the NHL in terms of points as he comes into play third in the NHL in assists. The Avs have been a well-oiled machine this season and have had a lot of different guys step up throughout the year. 

The play I am turning to tonight will be to take the Colorado Avalanche on the money line. I know it is a Lille juiced up, but this is still a good line for a team this good as I have this line closer to the range of -200. The Avs have been lights out all season long and know we get them fresh off a loss, and they are not going to lose back-to-back games often.

I think they match up very well with the Flames here in this game across the board. The way the Avs have answered losses this year makes me extremely confident in this pick tonight. This is also one of the best teams in all of the NHL on their home ice. I expect a complete game from the Avs tonight and for them to get that sour taste out of their mouth following a loss.
