This is one of my favorite plays of the night. Tail it.
Dallas is heading to Toronto this evening and I think they are going to score some goals, to be short.
Toronto is in the midst of a mid-season collapse right now. I spoke highly of them earlier in the year and had believed in the narrative that this was the season that they finally clean things up and make that real push in the final third of the year. I expected them to pose themselves for a playoff run in a good seed and hopefully avoid getting knocked out early again.
They are pretty much doing the opposite. Across their last 10 contests they are 5-5 with a 4.58 GAA; if you exclude the one game in which they played good defense and held Pittsburgh to just one goal, they gave up 54 goals in 9 games, a 6.00 GAA. Jack Campbell looked great to start the year but has fallen off the wagon and No. 2 netminder Peter Mrazek has not filled his shoes or stepped up to help out.

Tonight, they send out rookie netminder Erik Kallgren who will be making his NHL debut in this one. They are without their centerpiece and leading point man Auston Matthews. Dallas is not one of the most insanely potent offensive teams in the league, but they have 32 wins on the season for a reason -- they dominate the faceoff circle and have been generating a lot of quality looks as of late.
They have cashed their team total in four of their last five games, and considering I expect them to take this one outright, I love this total. I really am not sure how much Toronto Produces offensively without the man in the lineup, and, as long as they can bag two or three, I think the total hits here as well.

I am backing Dallas for a unit but my favorite play and four-unit play tonight is Dallas team total. I think we can cash this early but even if we don’t Toronto gives them up late likely crazy and if Dallas has a 2-0, 2-1 lead we have a great shot at that empty net.

New York Rangers vs. Washington Capitals Predictions
I will keep this one short and sweet. I love the line and I love the way these squads have been playing. The Isles are not a crazy powerful squad when it comes to burying the biscuit but have truly impressed me lately. They are slinging it around well and generating a lot of good looks, they turn things up on the road and send out back netminder Semyon Varlomov, who is just 4-12-1 this season.

The Capitals fell off the wagon for a minute and it was rough, but it seems as though they have found their game again. They may not be full force or producing the maximum output possible but are on an uptrend and should do their part in getting this one to six goals.
5.5 is the best over line in hockey -- we love it, take it when we can, say thank you and ask for more. Obviously when I back an o5.5 I am not thinking there will be six exactly but we have the security blanket if things are slower and/or don’t pick up until late. As long as we have 3-4 by start of the final 20, we have life, but I don’t think it should come down to that here.
