Monday's NHL Best Bet: Chicago Blackhawks vs. Buffalo Sabres
We have two teams playing for nothing in the NHL tonight, but the good thing is there is money to be made on these bad teams, and let's do it. The Blackhawks and the Sabres are a combined 18 games under .500, and this game pretty much means nothing but let's take a look and see what we can break down to get a winner out of this game.

Chicago Blackhawks vs. Buffalo Sabres Prediction
Buffalo's last five games had gone to overtime or a shootout the two games before; seven goals were scored. In the previous three games, Buffalo has had 7, 7, and 9 against the Rangers with the best goalie in the business (Igor), so clearly, this offense has improved from the lousy offense they had all year. However, their defense hasn't improved as it's still the 26th worst giving up 3.5 goals a game, and even worse, 28th at giving up 34 shots a game. When your offense is improving and your defense is one of the worst in the league, that leads to goals. We have recently seen that with a chance for overtime or a shootout, that always helps an over.
The Blackhawks have Kevin Lankinen in goal tonight, and since they traded Fleury, this guy and Collin Delia have stunk in Chicago. Lankinen is 4-8, giving up over 3.5 goals a game, just the other day, they blew a huge lead and gave up four goals in the third period to Las Vegas and then lost the game. Before that, they had a shootout game with seven goals, and before that, a game with six and ten. In their last ten games, this team has had 9, 11, 7, 9, 8, 7, 10, 9, and 3 and 4. That means we would have only lost twice off of the total of 6 that we have today. With two teams who don't know what the word defense is, and they combine to give up seven goals a game, let's hope that continues tonight.
With both teams trending to the over in this situation and in March, with two bad goalies, two bad defenses, and improving offenses, along with the fact that it's a lot harder to play defense than offense; we will be surprised if we don't get the seven goals at least that is expected. So let's take the over six goals tonight, and hopefully, these bad teams do what they do best: blow leads and give up goals and send us to overtime for a winner.
