The Edmonton Oilers (37-25-5) sit two points behind the Kings in the standings with a game in hand. Both teams are in playoff spots, but the race is extremely tight in the Western Conference. Edmonton, having lost three games in the last eight days, needs these points badly. They responded to a 9-5 loss against the Flames nicely with a dominant, 6-1 victory over the Coyotes on Monday night. The Oilers have been playing well at even strength over the past couple of months, and will look to build some momentum with another win on Wednesday.
The Kings (36-23-9) have managed to hold onto second place in the Pacific, but they aren't in great form. They've lost three of their last five, including a 6-1 blowout loss to the Kraken on Monday. The main reason for their slide has been a slew of injuries; Drew Doughty, Dustin Brown, Andreas Athanasiou, Blake Lizotte, and others have all missed time.
