The Wild are playing their first road game in over three weeks thing evening after a nine-game homestand in St. Paul in which they really got back on track as far as the standings go and climbed into the second seat of the central. During that time, they also acquired Marc-Andre Fleury -who I have now mentioned three or four times now- to try to help them strengthen up on the back end.

I undoubtedly believe the addition of the future Hall of Fame netminder is going to help the boys from St. Paul down the stretch and come playoffs if they have that chemistry clicking like they have and MAF settles in, they are going to be dangerous. Tonight however, we are not in the playoffs yet, nor are we in St. Paul where Minny has seen most of their success this season.
Carolina is 24-9 on home ice this season and have played exceptionally well this season with the revenge factor as a boost to the motivation to go out and get this one; we saw it at the end of last month with the Capitals. Carolina outplayed them twice and lost the previous meetings to start the year and Carolina had their number for it; they won 6-1 last week for vengeance.
Tonight they have another opportunity to go get a team that got them earlier in the season. Carolina dropped the previous meeting in St. Paul back in February 3-2 despite outplaying them and it really was a game they should have won. The addition of Fleury, who is starting tonight, definitely makes me a tad bit more weary of fading the Wild and attacking their totals going forward but spots still will exist.

This one’s in Raleigh where Carolina has not only been dominant all season long but have won the last five straight contests when Minnesota came to town. They should control the faceoff circle and give up fewer HDCA/quality looks than the other guys and I see them winning this one on home Ice; look for both squads to net at least two here and worst-case scenario we look to the empty net to bring us home on the total.
