Columbus Blue Jackets vs. Boston Bruins Prediction: Expect the Blue Jackets to Keep It Close
The Bruins hit the road for a four-game road trip in which their first stop is in Columbus to take on the Blue Jackets for the second time in three nights. The Bruins came back from a 2-1 deficit to win 5-2 at home against the Jackets just the other night, and now the Jackets look for revenge on their own ice. The Bruins are still fighting for playoff positioning, while the Jackets have secured a spot on the couch for the postseason. It's not a "must-win" for the Bruins, but it certainly is an important game. This is also the first game of a back-to-back for both teams, as the Bruins will travel to Detroit, and the Jackets will head to Philadelphia tomorrow. Can the Jackets avenge their loss on the road just two days at home?

Columbus Blue Jackets vs. Boston Bruins Prediction
The Bruins have been dominant this year along with Jeremy Swayman, but Linus Ullmark will be starting here. Ullmark has also been impressive, but his numbers aren't quite as good as Swaymans'. He also has a heavy split on the road. He is 11-4 at home and 10-7 on the road, which doesn't seem bad, but Ullmark is 6-11 on the -1.5 line on the road for puck-line bettors. Swayman held the Jackets to two goals in the home meeting just a few nights ago, so maybe the Jackets can crack the lesser of the two goalies this season.

The Jackets may not have playoff aspirations, but they have still fought for their crowd, as shown by their home record, especially on the puck line. They are 19-9, covering the +1.5 line as a home underdog. Also, the Jackets get back a key piece to the defense in the form of Zach Werenski returning from injury. Werenski is the point-leading defenseman on the team and has 42 points on the season. This will be a huge addition to the team, and they are essentially one-hundred percent healthy. Merzlikins has also played much better at home and has a positive record on his own ice. He was also the goalie in net when the Jackets took the Bruins to a shootout in the only meeting in Columbus this season.
The Blue Jackets have lost six games in a row now, which is why I think we are seeing this high of a line, but only one of those losses was at home. The Jackets have not been a bad home team this season and are 19-9 on the puck-line at home as an underdog and 23-12 overall. They have also gone 9-1 on the puck-line over their last ten as a home underdog. The Bruins are 17-4 on the road as a favorite, but just 11-10 on the puck-line in this situation, with most of those covers coming earlier in the year. The Jackets took the Bruins to a shootout in the only other meeting at home this year, eventually losing 4-5. I'm not sure if the Jackets can pull off the outright upset here, but I expect them to keep it close and potentially take it to extra hockey once again. Take the Jackets with the additional goal and a half tonight.
