ANALYSIS

Nashville Predators vs. St. Louis Blues Prediction: Will We See Fireworks on the Ice Tonight?

The NHL's regular season is almost over, and we have noticed that teams are playing a lot better offensively than defensively. We have seen the offenses go wild to end the NHL season as just yesterday, 9 out of 14 games went over the total. We had a 10, 2 games with 11, and a 12-goal game. We had a team score nine, a team score 8, and two teams score 7. There were 101 goals yesterday, the 2nd most in NHL history in one day, so when we say the offenses are kicking it, we aren't lying. Two of those teams who played yesterday are playing again today, and St Louis and Nashville combined for ten goals yesterday, so let's see what that means for today.

Nashville Predators vs. St. Louis Blues Prediction

Personally, not a big fan of the nickname Predators, but that might be me thinking this team should change their name. The Predators are in a battle for a ton of stuff here as we are down the stretch for the regular season. First, they are battling Dallas for fourth place in the Central Division, and they have Vegas riding them for a wild card berth.

"This game, the bigger everything gets, the better it is," Predators forward Mikael Granlund said. "Every little thing matters. There will be emotional wins and emotional losses, but that's what you pay for. It's the best time of the year. We might not win every single game, but we've got to find a way to get to the playoffs, and then it's a new game out there." This statement says it all, and Nashville knows every game; every point matters if they want to make the playoffs. They have Calgary and the Lightning coming up, two teams with over 100 points fighting for home ice, so if Nashville doesn't get that offense going, they will not make the playoffs. These two teams are both about the same as Nashville is 11th, scoring 3.2 goals a game, while St. Louis is fourth, scoring 3.7 a game, and defensively they are tenth and eleventh, giving up almost three a game. So, we have two even teams and Nashville fighting for a chance to make the playoffs. What about the Blues, you might be wondering.

The Blues clinched a playoff berth by beating the Wild yesterday. It was huge because it moves them into second in the Central, which is as high as they get (the Avalanche are so far ahead with 116 points). Still, they want to stay in second as they are only one point ahead of the Wild, who get an easy game today with San Jose, so a win by the Wild and a loss by the Blues and the Blues drop to third. Every game matters to the Blues, and what if we told you that in 11 straight, I repeat 11 consecutive games, they have scored four or more goals, including six in three of the last four. They are the hottest offensive team in the NHL, and we expect them to make it twelve straight games of 4 goals or more tonight. There are seven guys on this team with over 50 points this year, and they are the #2 power-play team in the NHL.

Let's look at even more numbers for today as to why this game is going over six goals. They have played three times this year, and all three went over with eleven in the most recent and eight and seven in the previous two, which means if today goes over, it would be 4-0 with at least seven in all four games. The over is 7-0-1 in the last 8 Blues road games, 4-0-1 there last five overall, and we have two top ten offenses and teams who can score when they are on power plays (2nd and 7th in the league). With so much on the line for both teams and both goalies have given up over three goals a game, so we expect at least seven goals today but feel nine is what will happen today in Nashville, which will mean it went over the 6-115 readily available as we write this article. Good Luck on Easter as we hope to end the day not singing the Blues but being Predators on our books and taking their money to make it an enjoyable Easter holiday.
