Colorado Avalanche vs St. Louis Blues Prediction: Can the Blues Pull the Upset?
Well this is it, the last meeting between two of the heavyweights out of the Western Conference this season and a potential preview to a playoff series to come if things fall in line. They split the first two contests early season back in October and now each club has played about 70 games since then to prepare for the playoffs and final stretch which we are very much into now.
Colorado Avalanche vs. St. Louis Blues Prediction
St. Louis is 49-29-11 on the season, six games and seven points back from Colorado in first place who are 55-18-6.
But how did they get there?
Well, I have written about this hockey team for a month straight now. We have now been riding with St. Louis since game one of this terrific win streak (literally starting last month in game one with Vancouver) and we have been sticking with the Notes ever since. They fell off, needed a surge and have stormed back with a record of 14-0-2 and sporting a GPG average above 4.8 in the last month.
Colorado on the other hand has looked out of and have dropped four straight; call it how you want, say they are on cruise control with their spot locked up but they are now eyeing the hottest team in the league in the face tonight on home ice with the potential to drop their 5th consecutive game. I am not
I am not going to bring up data and stats about netminders or periods in this one, I do not need to. If you have been with me over this last month you know just as much as I do (although maybe not as religiously) that St. Louis is playing absolutely phenomenal hockey right now.
Husso is still playing well but Binnington has battled back into the #1 netminder conversation as expected; Jordan gets his shot again here tonight and if there is anything I know about that guy is if he is on, he will very much play to, and live up to the moment here.
Trust me, I know what we are dealing with in Colorado; I have written, bet on, and raved about how great they are all year but they are not in form and St. Louis is. Both squads are missing some pieces, Schenn for St. Louis and Landeskog for Colorado are among the more notable, however, St. Louis has played well while adjusting to injuries all season long. This one is going to be a hell of a game.
