Toronto Maple Leafs vs Tampa Bay Lightning Prediction
The Leafs dominated the two-time defending Stanley Cup Champions in Game 1, by a score of 5-0. Sniper Auston Matthews continued to show why he is the best goalscorer in the game as he notched 2 goals and added an assist. Jack Campbell made 24 saves for the shutout. Special teams were the difference in the game and the Leafs killed off a five-minute major in the first period as Kyle Clifford got tossed for a late hit. Andrei Vasilevskiy was shaky as he allowed five goals on 26 shots. This was the worst playoff loss Tampa Bay has suffered in four years.
Bet $10, Get $200 with BetMGM on Maple Leafs vs Lightning The Bolts have done a tremendous job of responding to playoff losses during their recent Cup Runs. That stat has been led by Andrei Vasilevskiy. Over the last two seasons, Vasy is 14-0 after a playoff loss with a .966 save percentage with five shutouts. He has notched shutouts over the last three playoff losses. The Bolts' offense has scored 48 goals over those 14 games, a 3.42 per game average, outscoring opponents by a 48-17 margin. While many are counting Tampa out after their Game 1 loss, I am not ready to do that yet. This is a veteran team, with a proven playoff pedigree and a fantastic coach in Jon Cooper. These teams rotated wins and losses in their season series and I see the same here. Take Tampa Bay to respond in what should be a long, back-and-forth playoff series.
