Florida Panthers vs. Washington Capitals Prediction
The Washington Capitals stole Game 1 as they erased a 2-1 third period deficit with 3 third period goals to defeat the Florida Panthers. TJ Oshie notched the eventual game-winner at the 10:37 mark of the final frame. Vitek Vanecek stood tall as he made 30 Saves on 32 Shots. It was an off night for the usually lethal Panthers offense, who averaged 40 shots on goal per game at home during the regular season. Washington had an effective game plan and only committed 2 minor penalties as limiting the Panther Power Play opportunities was a huge key to success.
As we have seen already in these playoffs, home teams that have lost Game 1 have come roaring in Game 2. Last night the Wild and the Oilers were in the same spot as the Panthers are in tonight, Minnesota handled the Blues by a score of 6-2 and the Oilers blew out the Kings by a 6-0 mark. I think we will see the same kind of outcome tonight. While I don't think Florida's offense-first style will play as we get deeper into the playoffs, it should be enough to get them through Round 1 at least. The Panthers lost back-to-back home games only twice this season, where they averaged a league-high 4.66 goals per game. The Capitals already got their split so I like the Panthers to start fast tonight and take it to the Caps. I am going with 2 bets in the game and they are listed below.
Florida Panthers vs. Washington Capitals Picks
- Florida Win/Over 5.5 (-105) (Bet $105 to Win $100)
- Florida First period -.5 (+120) (Bet $100 to win $120)
