Carolina Hurricanes vs Boston Bruins Prediction

Well Boston has done exactly what we all knew they were more than capable of going into this series; the question was always whether they would do it or not.

The Bruins and Canes are two of the more comparable teams in Hockey; they play defensively sound hockey, are aggressive in the forecheck, have plenty of talent, and a lot of heart, and grit. They are both built for playoff hockey but up until game three Carolina had played the game much better and the aspect in which they do hold the edge (the offensive side of things) had shown through.

They smoked Boston all three times in the regular season and took the first two games by three-plus goals but Boston won the crucial game three on home ice. Carolina seemed to be back on track in game four with a 2-1 lead late in the second however after a string of power plays and a failed challenge late in the period, Boston was able to tie and seize control of the lead.

The series is now tied as they head back to Carolina and we have a brand new series, best of three here folks. Boston has beaten them now and shown they can; I think they have regained confidence and feel like they are in the playoffs now but that has no effect on the emotions of the Carolina Hurricanes.

I am a handicapper and hockey head like no other, you all know I respect both sides and know that Boston is more than capable of winning this series but I do not think Carolina will allow it.

I have to believe this team is what they are capable of being. They have been so good this year and are too talented to drop three straight games here; they have had some netminder issues but the playoffs are about finding a way to win and I know they can find that on home ice. I am riding with the guys who deserve this run, it’s their time and now they have to prove it.

(and I am on the total because you all know the 5.5 rule and we’ve cashed it in every game so far.)

Toronto Maple Leafs vs. Tampa Bay Lightning Prediction

Well, I will keep this one short and sweet as I think this game itself is closer to a toss-up, and as I have said before, this series should go six or seven games. I am on Tampa in the series so I am on them tonight but Toronto just had it handed to them last time out and should be desperate to regain the lead in the series tonight.

I do not think Tampa Bay feels desperate at all. They have been here before, done it, know how to do it, and know that the most important thing you can do when trying to win a cup is not lose back-to-back games. They have done that and although I believe they will try to go for the throat tonight, they also know they can win game six on home ice and push seven. Toronto should be trying to avoid being down 3-2 on the road at all costs so that is why I am liking the total plays here the most but I would not hammer either side.
