Edmonton Oilers vs Colorado Avalanche Best Bet: Can We Trust Conor McDavid and the Oilers in Game 3?
Do or Die. Those are the words being said all over Canada because if the Oilers don't win this game you can pretty much end this series tonight. We are not naysayers here but you don't go down 3-0 to the best team in the Western Conference and come back and win even if you have Jordan and Pippen on skates on your team. Let's dive into my prediction, best bet, and the odds for Game 3 between the Avalanche vs Oilers.

Edmonton Oilers vs Colorado Avalanche Game 3 Prediction
The Oilers were embarrassed in Game 2 losing to a backup goalie Pavel Francouz who has the record of a starter going 19-5 this year but they still got shut out by a backup. This was the second time the Oilers have been shut out in the playoffs as they were shut out 4-0 by Jonathan Quick in Game 4 of the opening-round series with LA.
"We haven't shown our best yet and that is encouraging, but we have to make sure it's coming soon," forward Leon Draisaitl said. "Obviously not the situation we wanted to be in after two games, but that's the way it is. We can't dwell on it, we have to be better." The Oilers' stars know what needs to be done tonight and anything short of a win is unacceptable.
History is clearly on the side of the Avalanche as they try to get to the Finals. Teams that are up 2-0 in this round are 91-7 so clearly, the Avalanche are in a good spot while the Oilers have a lot of work to do. The reason the Avalanche are up is that they have the firepower to score anytime and score in bunches as they showed in Game 2 when they scored three goals in just over two minutes in the second period.
It also helps when your defense holds the high-powered Oilers to a measly 24 shots, the least they have had in the playoffs so far. Even though Colorado is on the road they have gone 5-0 on the road in the playoffs and have only lost two games in the postseason and that was in overtime.
The Avalanche have one of the best first lines you will ever see but it's the second line that has gotten them to this position with Miiko Rantanen who has gone from one goal in two rounds (empty netter) to two goals and two assists against the Oilers.
Don't believe us the coach saw it as well: "That's the line that got us started and kept it going in the second period, the Kadri line," Colorado coach Jared Bednar said. "They were making plays in the second period. They (capitalized) on a couple of chances, and they're the ones who built this lead." Colorado played an almost perfect game helping their backup goalie out but this isn't Colorado anymore this is Edmonton and this is a different team they will see tonight.
If you told me the Oilers would be shut out by a backup goalie with a chance to steal a game from the Avalanche I would have said you are crazy. But, it happened and the dynamic duo didn't show up and that is unacceptable.
Conor McDavid has 29 points in the playoffs which is the best of any player and his sidekick Draisaitl has 28 to add to it we have Evander Kane who leads all players with thirteen goals. This is not a team that gets shut out or shut down offensively.
This is a team that had thirty-one goals in the previous six games averaging over five goals a game. The fact they were shut down should make them angry and we expect the three-headed monster to come out angry and at least prolong this series one more game and not get swept at home.
The home team has won seven out of the last eight games and this season they had two games go into overtime and a shootout. This game will not be 4-0 again and we will be shocked if the Oilers don't bring that top ten offense that had been scoring over five goals a game.
We will gladly take the home dog Oilers +120 to avoid going down 3-0 and to come back from that embarrassment. Oilers at home in a do or die we are betting that they DO tonight. Enjoy the game on TNT tonight and let's hope we get at least five in this series and that only happens if the Oilers get us a W tonight.
